It was brilliant when he bought the moto Martin. The seller names his price and HC just throws his hand out to shake immediately! Total opposite to the Mike Brewer approach. I like him to be honest, I think he is a genuine guy. 9 seasons I think.

I thought I liked the Moto Martin when they bought it, but it definately looks good going back to standard. Love Guy`s limited edition work too. HC has Land Rovers, so he`s ok with me smile

How do they film the road trip ?
I thought at first he was following closely to a camera vehicle but then the camera panned round and there was nothing in front of him so presumably they used a drone....but then when he pulled out for an overtake how did the drone operator know what was in front to be able to swerve around it ?
They use one of these bad boys. Not a bad bit of kit

Insta360 ONE X2 360 Degree Action Camera PRO Kit includes 64GB Micro SDHC Card + Case + Invisible Selfie Stick + Lens Cap https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B08WCHBJCS/ref=cm_sw_r...

As mentioned it's all done by a camera fixed to the bike on a selfie stick. 180 degrees lenses front and back, and some clever software that hides the selfie stick, and you get a flawless 360 degree image from a floating camera.
I assume that the "pan" is achieved by processing the recording of the 360° image?

EDIT:
I should have read the Amazon listing before posting. smile It says "...the camera catches the action in every direction, so you don’t have to point while shooting. Just choose your favorite angle during your edit...".

I always remember the Moto Martin CBX as the one to have rather than the Suzuki engined one. Henry seems to have a selective memory of the early eighties.

Whilst I can't stand Mike Brewer, I think that's just the "Used Car Dealer" mentality, my Dad has been a car dealer for 50+ years and he can't help but chip the price regardless

If I'm happy with the price I'll pay it without negotiating - it's simply the difference between wanting something and purely buying to sell on

A chap a couple years above me at school had a Moto Martin CBX, I only had a brand new end of run CBX (pre-prolink sell off). The only time I got past him was when he was out on his Puch Maxi.

I have a horrible feeling that it was stolen in London when some thieving git used a disc cutter to remove the lamppost it was chained to (it's nearly 40 years so it may have been another mates CB900 Bol D'or).

When my CBX finally died - holed piston as it was running weak, the guy who bought it off me may have been rebuilding it to go in a MM frame.

Wanders off to do a bit of Googling/.gov.uk
Blimey SORNed and Date of last V5C issued 1 September 2020, no mot history. So I'm guessing stored for long time now someone possibly thinking of rebuilding due to high value. I would love to get it back...

For the final episode of the series they will be doing a piece on Rickmans. They were down filming yesterday at Sammy Millers.

A guy called Caldwell Smythe sold the MM kits from a small shop in N London. Popped in as I was passing by, and he offered me a ride on one. It was pissing down, so I decided against it.

Slipped under the radar a bit but S10 just ended.
Some laugh out loud moments for me during the bike restoration.
Why henry thought a moto martin was some sort of 30k bike is beyond me. Nice bike but Its just another frame kit like a harris or spondon.
As much as I laugh at them the jokes on me as they have their little ride out at the end on 4 pretty special bikes to the usual rough tough
bike haunt that is the tea shop.

When did he say it was a £30,000 bike ?
The valuer said £12,000 to £16,000 and Henry said he'd been offered £25,000

At least this resto is a step up from the horrible rainbow chopper and the crappy honda 750 race thing he got phil read to pretend to like.
I think that crappy Honda 750 was a very valuable, rare and extremely desirable Phil Read replica.

Really decent to ride classic bikes them, nowt crappy about them at all.

I agree, the Phil Read replica was my favourite of all his restorations. I do wish they’d bring back Pete the restorer.

My dad (now 75) owned dozens if not hundreds of bikes from the 60’s to the 90’s and one of his favourites was his Honda Phil Read replica that he owned when I was a kid in the 80’s.
He’s still got a pic on his office wall. The fairing looks bonkers and dated now but I can see the appeal. Even more so if you were someone who lusted after them when they were current.

Well you cant argue with that onslaught of pro phil read replica posts.

I still think its the sort of thing a bored owner does to his bike after looking in a accessory catalog. Nothing performance related at all.
