Apparently, the Scrambler has a cable clutch so that the bike can be serviced in third-world countries.

Of everything that Ducati could do to make servicing easier and cheaper, I reckon a cable clutch is about the last they should worry about. Top of the list would be getting rid of the desmodromic valve operation and going back to SOHC, rockers, and valve springs, and second would be cam chains instead of belts. smile

This IS a cafe racer ... not cosseted but ridden daily, weather permitting. Not mine ... I wish.

I actually enquired about buying this recently:

Built by a guy in Indonesia, and based on a humble GSX750. That tank and seat are one handmade unit. It's achingly gorgeous (IMO). He built a pair, the other one is black. He told me that he would sell the pair for USD$20k, or one individually for USD$13k - he didn't really want to split them. Never got as far as asking whether that price was landed, or plus shipping. I asked a mate about going for them with me but he had to turn it down, he does the 1000cc Endurance series and all his play cash was committed.

Look at the detail on this throttle:

That does look nice but I'd rather see it in the flesh before handing over any $$$$
So much of that can be tidied in photoshop and you can't get a feel for the quality of the machine work until you see it up close.
But looks good with the oil cooler suzi lump. Wonder what the frame is?

I really don't like that, it looks like a badly chopped up XJR1200, 'cafe racers' should be twins imo.

Looks like? Is is a badly chopped XJR (might even be 1300 from EFI and Ohlins). The exhaust wrap looks like duct tape.

Would look far better with a '70's Superbike racer style rather than hacking bits off of it, wouldn't take much to turn it back into one - original side panels and tail piece with no mudguard, 4-1 Harris/Kerker pipe, original headlight, jack up the rear slightly, Eddie Lawson style seat, superbike bars (no Renthal brace) solid paint job.

I beg to differ biggrin

Yes I know you said "imo" but any excuse to get some photos of proper caff racers up!
