I'd say Michael Rutter has been fairly successfull on the short circuits, he might not have had the championships but has ended up 2nd and 3rd a few times in bsb and has a fair few wins and podiums, and has been racing at a high level for a long time, as well as racing on the roads.

Subaru of America, Inc. announced today that Subaru will return to the fabled Isle of Man TT Races and attempt to beat its own fastest car lap time. The current record of 115.36mph for the iconic 37 3/4 mile TT Mountain Course was set three years ago by Mark Higgins in a (2011) Subaru WRX STI. Higgins will return to drive the new 2015 Subaru WRX STI.

Plenty of wins at Macau. Not sure he has been the same in BSB since Brookes threw him off at Cadwell in 2011. Plus, he's been on a different bike each year for the last four years (Ducati>Kwak>Honda>BMW).
Not only that, but I don't class Rutter as a front runner on the roads anymore, apart from TT Zero.

He ran well last year - 6th in SB and Senior races.
On the same bike that finishe 1/2 in both races. And way down on lap speed. With josh having another year, hutch back etc I think he will be lucky to see top ten

As much as I like Subaru's, I always kind of snigger imagining telling a young lady (upon being asked what car one drove) 'Oh I've got an STi' I can almost sense the next question being about anti biotics...

As for Mr Higgins trying for a quicker lap at the TT, yawn; not what the TT is about for me, and a very dreary interruption to the proceedings last time!

Best of luck smile I was with Brunel in 2009 for the inaugural TTXGP. Was an immense experience, and would love to do it all again.

Fantastic, i've been a fan of TTXGP/TTZERO since it's first running at the TT, the bikes have come a long way in a short time.

All the best for TT2014.
