Mito 443 Project

Not seen it but is nice.
Going to be aiming for around 115 kg I think that looks like it'll be a fair bit heavier than that. The old 400s weren't really that light, my NC30 was heavier than I expected.
What kind of power are the ypvs lumps in a mild tune? I know they seem the favourite to most but they are quite long in the tooth if we're honest.

I quite like this. Often updated bikes look odd but this one works pretty well I think
It does look good...but hes delusional asking 15k for it, he's devalued it by doing the facelift...I think that one will sit a while.I quite like this. Often updated bikes look odd but this one works pretty well I think

Mate of mine had a mito with a kx500 lump in it , what a beast that was . Good luck with the project
Christ I wouldn't go anywhere near that big on a 2 stroke single. There was a CR500 engined one knocking about that literally rattled itself to bits and broke its engine mounts!! Never mind the fact you end up with lazy engine characteristics.300 is my limit but I'll build it as a 250 first as I have those bits and definitely going to have to rubber mount the motor.
What have I dooooone
Very rough mock up with the short engine in but loads of room to play with. Mounting it shouldn't be too difficult. All looks a bit minging and dirty at the moment but it'll clean up nice. The frame is an 04 hpi clear then picked the best of the rest of his stuff.
Everything seems quite well made and light too. Heaviest bits seem to be the wheels.

Thanks mate
First thing I've noticed is I'm gonna have to move the motor forward. If I mount it directly through the swingarms spindle there isn't really enough room to get my new carb and reed block assembly in. So I'll be getting adapters machined up out of billet ally to get the rear mount sorted then rubber mount the front.
Suspension wise there's plenty of info from people who've ran in superteens about how to sort the forks out and I know nitron do a shock for the mito.
The engine building will be done last.
One thing I'm looking forward to is sorting the fairings out but that's obviously far down the line. I was looking at mito race fairings, but Honda RS125 fairings are easily obtainable.. I want it to look like a moto3 bike not a mito.
Anyway, plenty to do before then!!!

I'm starting to think I don't wanna use the mito wheels. They really don't look it but they're surprisingly heavy. Any options people can think of?
My dad fitted brembo superduke wheels to his bimota which are very nice. The aprilia rs250 and Mille have brembo wheels too, a little different to the ktm style but nice. Anyone know if the rs250 and rsv brembo wheels are the same size?
Other than that another type are the rsvr OZ wheels but seem to cost a fortune.
Wasn't planning on spending a load on wheels but if I can get a set for reasonable money and sell the mito wheels it'll be worth doing as they really are not anywhere near as light as they look!!
Don't suppose anyone's got something suitable knocking about..?

Spoke to Dave Swarbrick today too, just wanted to see if he could fab a pipe when the time comes and he seems happy to do it, was either him or Gibson but with Gibson being miles away and them not actually being made by the original people anymore I think swarbrick is the better option.
This is something I'm willing to spend a bit of cash on and get it done properly, I'm sure I could cobble something together out of the pipe I had for the kart but it needs to be right. Anyway it'll be a good while till it's ready for that but I like to have a bit of a plan.

Maybe that's because Pete Gibson retired to Australia some 10 years ago. I have a set of Swarbricks for my TZR. They never get used though due to the massive hole at 10K. One of the reasons why you never saw them on the YPM grid, only Gibsons or Jollymoto's
I've actually done something with this today!
Gave the swinger a good clean, then nitromorsed it, got fed up and shot blasted it instead. Will get it powder coated when the time comes, hopefully do the wheels at the same time. Also gave the frame a good clean and set about polishing up the spars. Now I can order new headstock bearings etc and finish it off
Doesn't look like much but it's taken the best part of the day and I'm bloody knackered.

As I'm skint from Xmas and NYE I'm just trying to do stuff that only costs me time and not money...It might not look any different in the pics but I spent some more time on the frame and it's come up a lot better.
As the aluminium was anodized I was being a bit daft trying to polish/rub through it, so stripped it off and almost started again. Lots of time with wet and dry, finishing pads, wrags and polishing mops. Still ain't perfect but I'm happy to tick it off the list now where before it wasn't great. Also fitted new steering head bearings, that'll do for today.
