Finally got my custom sprocket in the post.

It started as a 530 blank then machined out to go over the carrier, to inset closer to the wheel, then the other side taken back to 520. Only shame is they were supposed to countersink the bolt holes so I could fit countersunk flush allen bolts.. so it's going back for that but I'm keeping it a few days until I've got my alignment sorted. Got a offset front sprocket on the way, then the remaining will be machined off the front face of the carrier itself to being it in line. Plenty of meat on it and by getting this sprocket made it has meant less needs to come out of the actual carrier. Once this is done there will be more clearance as you can see it's all very tight at the mo!

Things like this can be a pain but I'm happy I'm nearly there on this, so as a rolling chassis it works rather than building the engine and then dealing with things like this.

Engine wise I'm hoping to order all the parts in the next week or so and as soon as this alignment is done I can send the cases off to stan stephens for trenching to clear the +7mm crank.

Hi mate

I've got a set of 38mm Mikuni TMX flat slides brand new for literally nothing to try

They were so cheap from a contact I have I bought 6 carbs, sold 4 and the ones I kept actually owe me less than nothing. So it's win win, I'll try these and if it turns out a bit peaky on them I'll punt them on and buy some 36mm carbs.

Cheers mate, parts that came are 68mm forged wiseco super lite pistons, vforce4 carbon reeds, billet inlet manifold, shift pro, anti sieze clutch pusher & ultra high flow water pump with billet cover.

I've got cheetah cub cylinders, billet head, 7mm crank with uprated mains and big ends, wiseco billet clutch basket and 2.68 straight cut primaries, heavy duty clutch using fzr1000 plates and heavy springs all on the way.

Going to send my gearbox internals off for super polishing and a mixture of DLC coating on some bits, and heat treating of gears. Also got new gear bushes, uprated gearbox bearings etc.

Not joking..... wink

So whats the plan for the motor? Once the parts are fettled are the casing being trenched for a +7mm crank?
The the build, you having a go or getting a shop to assemble it?
What are you doing for the ignition system? Have you looked at something like a Zeeltronic programmable ignition system?? Lets you really set it up nicely and can take a QS input etc.
You need to crack on with this now though mate, enough pishing around. We need to see this run!

Yep zeeltronic, the chap I bought the parts through is running a similar motor so he's going to supply me base maps for the ignition.

I've managed to get in touch with someone who can sort me an oil pump out so I don't have to run bloody premix. Hopefully when the bits come I can mock it up and send it off for pipes. I think I'll do that before fully building the top end so the chap can pull the barrels off and do any measuring as I want them building to the spec of the motor. I'll be building the engine myself, that's part of the fun smile

Cool, should be epic.
As you know, measure, measure and measure again. ring gaps, squish, big ends with plastigauge the lot. Good verniers and micrometer and you're set.
And did you get a copy of the 2T book we were chatting about? Have a look at the pipe design section, especially in terms of key or critical measurements. Could save a lot of pain and upset. If not, i can scan and send you the relevant pages for info.
So whats the time scales? 6 weeks to running????

I need to download it actually, I'd buy the book but from memory it was bloody expensive!

There's nothing I can tell kenny at TSA about pipe design but I guess it doesn't hurt to try and understand some if it myself. I'll basically be telling him that I want a tractable road pipe, what revs it'll be limited at and give him as much info as possible plus letting him measure the cylinders, carbs reeds etc, give him port timing and just let him design them.

No idea on time scales, pipes will be 2 weeks with the bike down there. Could be a good 3 weeks before my crank and barrels etc come. But it's coming together... Slowly

I don't think it's a case of trying to outsmart an expert, but there's some dimensions that can be altered to change the engines characteristics. So like you say, if you have the info, you'll be able to converse with Kenny and give him the info he needs. The you're both talking off the same page.
And yeah, download it, it's nearly 250 quid in real life!! I better look after my one biggrin
And it would be interesting to get the port map from the manufacturer and compare to the actuals. I do wonder how accurate the castings are compared to the design.
And how will the pipes be? GP stylee or side by side?

Can see where you're coming from mate smile

I do have the port map but yeah it'll be interesting to see what they're like in comparison. I'm not having any porting done, just the edges done and heights matched so they should be close to the maps.

I think pipes will be GP style both up the right hand side, just looks neater to me that way
