Not seen it but is nice.

Going to be aiming for around 115 kg I think biggrin that looks like it'll be a fair bit heavier than that. The old 400s weren't really that light, my NC30 was heavier than I expected.

What kind of power are the ypvs lumps in a mild tune? I know they seem the favourite to most but they are quite long in the tooth if we're honest.

The FZR was a whippet compared to a NC mate, not that im a fan of the standard bike to be honest but I thought what this guy had done was very clever.

Long in the tooth they maybe but they until fairly recently powered the Banshee quad motor, as such there is a ton of tuning parts for them...a tweaked VPVS motor doesnt look much like a YPVS!

Wit the addition of modern electronics and a big bore kit, a 485 motor gives around 100BHP ..A reliable 70ish from 350cc isnt bad going either..

Possibly being a tad optimistic there fella.
I have been looking at fitting a banshee based hybrid into a spare Aprilia Rs 250 fram I have and it seems a decent 421 motor will make 70 abd and a 485 not much more reliably.
If you have a look at the aTSS saga, the 485's are fraught with problems and very prone to nipping up.
The Yams biggest downfall is its lack of rpm, to make decent power.
Although its an old platform, its pretty much the only one still available sadly. Big cc conversions are possible but above 421 you get into a lot of casing modifications such as trenching and booring out the cylinder seats.
If someone would develop a 500cc twin/V kit motor using as many off the shelf parts such as 600 gearbpx (honda/kwak/yam etc) I reckon they'd be onto a winner

Appreciate what your saying there, I based that on another 485 I know of making 90RWHP, reliably enough it seems.

Bob Farnham made the modifications to the cases on that one.

Last LC gathering I went to, someone had done just the latter of your wish list...and bought a new Bimota V-Due Final Edition !

V Due FE? Stonking. Is that the one where it's hiding in the back room?
Hideously flawed genius of a bile.
I recently if someone made a decent 500 2T capable of about 110 to 115 bhp itd sell well. Can but dream

That it was...

Apparently this model hasnt the flaws....as it was told to me by the owner of this V-Due, the first edition was recalled due to the well known fuelling problems, the original intakes/cylinders where then modified to run on carbs however the fueling issues remained and the now understandably irate owners demanded their hard earned ££ back.

This put Bimota under.

Another company bought the remaining V-Dues, made various modifications to the bike(and some now carbon fairing panels), most importantly, they manufactured new cylinders, heads and pistons to work as they should from the off.

They claim 125-130BHP and run JollyMoto race pipes as standard, when he bought it, they put a litre of fuel in a dummy tank, fired it up and they guy, who went down "just to look at it", bought it on the spot..biggrin

I quite like this. Often updated bikes look odd but this one works pretty well I think smile

It does look good...but hes delusional asking 15k for it, he's devalued it by doing the facelift...I think that one will sit a while.
