Not going for a Nova box then?
I assume as you know what they are you also know what they cost.... fk no!

Have to draw the line somewhere. Maybe in future but I've got enough money sank in this for now.
I appreciate what you are saying, but the extra power you are introducing begs the question, will the box take it?

........but where do you draw the line?

Hats off to you any way Ginge, you're doing a grand job......although there's only so much smoke you can blow up Mick's arse

His porting work looks very nice and he's doing it to Kennys spec so I have every faith

As pipes go Kennys are much nicer than micks

Gearbox wise yep it'll take it, remember this has been done plenty of times before on banshees

I'm sure it will all be fine. It all sounds like a well thought out project.

Do you need a test rider?

Engine is nearly built but I've had some infuriating setbacks along the way.

I was really looking forward to getting to this stage, but buying an engine in bits has made this more difficult,
... It's not the end of the world the fact that I didn't strip it, but it does make it harder to build something you didn't take apart... What has been a total though is having boxes, and boxes and boxes of parts... Some very small but very significant parts missing.. Being on a roll then having to stop and order them, then start again. With the best will in the world I thought I had all bases covered but there's still been a few things that have stopped me in my tracks and I've ended up not enjoying this stage at all.

I'm looking forward to it being done though of course and not losing interest. It's just not gone as swimmingly as I hoped.

Case in point, tonight I came to torque up my primary drive and water pump driver gears on the end of the crank, easy... Then came to fit the inner clutch hub which on the face of it looked fine. Decided to look more closely and found a crack... So that's going in the bin and it's another wait and ££ until a new one arrives.

Last night a head stud snapped as I was fitting the head, even though they're spec'd at 20ftlb and I was creeping up on them 10, 15, 20, bang. Must have been a defective one, got it out the head ok but it's another fking wait to get a new set as I'm not chancing any of them now.

It's not far off and the rest has gone very well. Selects all gears nice, all new bearings, bushes, crank, gear selector pistons, barrels, head, billet basket, straight cut gears etc etc etc all new. There's not much that's second hand.

Anyway, some pics.. Just miffed it's not finished but it's not far away

Don't worry about it you will always find silly little things like that are a pain in the backside when doing something like this.

Wont do any harm changing the set anyway, such a simple thing but a critical part of the engine that people don't over look.

You seem to be doing a proper job of it so don't worry about it taking so long beer

Engine in, some bits left to do but can be done in the frame.

Leak down test successful

Fitted carbon fibre custom rear hugger and re routed brake hose, then threw pipes back on

I can't help but think that would look good with an 08 type Fireblade or 2014 ZX10 seat unit.

The whole look of the thing should come together once the fairings go on. It was never intended to be a TZ replica but I am going to use the full TZ250 5KE kit as I want it to look like a GP bike on the road.

I know it looks like a big white bulbous blob at the mo but with the rest of the fairing and some colour I'm sure it'll look how I envisage it will...I hope!!
