Got a few miles in and the flat spot found on the dyno is quite pronounced on the road, it feels like it needs a good tooth off the front or a few on the back as well, I'm cruising around in second at the moment which isn't ideal.

Plenty to improve but at least it can be ridden.
This has that 'Racer on the road' look, which I love.

Other than the flatspot, how does she sound (on the pipe)/ride/turn/handle/stop???

Did you do any calcs/empirical rule of thumb assessment for the carb size or induction/exhaust tuning for the 443 motor??? I'd think one of the 2 stroke guru's will have a few ideas.

Can't wait to see hear this thing in the flesh, great job IMHO.

It handles very well, brakes are overkill really for the weight of the thing. It's going to take some getting used to as its just so light compared to anything else I've ridden but it feels really good. The ergonomics aren't bad either.

The intake/exhaust etc was all designed and simulated by Ken Gubbins who made the pipes, it's had a very minor bit of port work to his spec to match the pipes. At the moment all the ingredients are there it just needs the ignition and carbs fine tuning.

The racer on the road look is exactly what I was going for biggrin

Wow!! Truly stunning - Was well worth getting a proper paint job - you've done yourself very proud there mate - thought you'd been pretty quiet since your travels .....I see why now . Looking forward to seeing it close up . Just a thought from the images - possibly go black to lose it a bit with the rear seat unit support ?
Mightily impressive work - well done !
Thanks mate, you mean the machined brackets? They do stand out a bit I agree, feel it would be a shame to paint them though. Anodise maybe, hmm

Or do you mean the bar coming down to support the exhausts? That's one thing I think I need to do something with

Sorry mate - I was unclear ( in thinking and verse) I did actually mean the exhaust bracket , mistook it from memory and the images as a seat unit support .....but now you mention the fairing support brackets too.... you are kind of drawn to them as the most significant " breach" of unbroken flow and colour match of the bike - stunning - just my tuppence from the squinty eyed layman that I am ......ps my personal viewing would be fine at approx. 10.30 Sat. morning, I shall prepare fine back bacon and egg , with a bucket of builder's tea for you - don't be late .

If you find yourself around Manchester give me a shout smile

Insurance was easy enough, still need to get an engineers report knocked up etc for the DVLA, from what I've read up some have had this go through a breeze and some needed more info but I think it's a case of bombard them with everything they need straight away to avoid too many questions... Something to do over winter. Yahoo...!

It looks stunning Yazza.

The only thing that makes me wonder now you have the fairings on are the gold wheels. Are you happy with that look or do you plan to change them? (Apologies if you've covered this already in the thread)

I chose the gold wheels to go with the blue/black, it was always going to be those colours just wasn't sure what "scheme" on the fairings. Always thought it was a good colour combo since seeing it on the 4c8 R1s... But can't please everyone!

Looks amazing. Hopefully we'll get to see. Ore of you out on the road and track next season. And of course in the pub over winter.

Loving the side profile of the bike, the high upswept pipes look spot on. Great colour scheme. Beautifully executed build.
Enjoy!!

Looks great mate. The fading on the black is top notch!

Is the R1 the motivation for the colour scheme?

That 08 R1 made me decide on gold wheels, and wanted that blue same as my old 01 R1, IMO one of the nicest colours ever created.

Regardless of colour schemes, which are always a personal choice (i think it looks fantastic btw) the bike is a real credit to you mate.
Your attention to detail and perseverance are outstanding and it's so good to see such a well concieved bike come to fruition.
The real fun begins now, experimenting on the best set ups for jetting, timing, inlet length and hopefully lots of road miles.

Enjoy bud, you've worked hard for this...

I think I've mentioned this before.... Make sure you never get shot of this even if it blows up dozens of times and leaves you stranded roadside in the pissing rain.

It can always be taken to bits, packed in boxes and left in a loft for decades.

I guarantee that when you get to my age all you will want is that bike back if you sell.

2 strokes rock, nothing else comes close.

Now get a 5 hunna built and for fks sake do it Marlboro colours.

I'm sure I've said this before but thanks for making me feel completely talentless!

On a serious note, the world's a better place for having bikes like this and guys like you building them. Kudos and congratulations.
