I'm selling my Desmo if you're near London and fancy a look.

1199 S Tricolore - going to be a nice first bike biggrin

Popped into the bike salesroom this morning to check everything over (I'd stuck a deposit over the phone once the deal was done and wanted to see it in the flesh before handing over the cash) and the bike is just stunning. They had the full Panigale range in there from the 899 up to the 1199R and IMHO the Tricolore is the best looking bike Ducati currently make by a mile.

Mine is standard other than carbon hugger and Ducati tail-tidy - just needs nothing else.

Can't wait for it to arrive next Saturday bounce

Doesn't the 1199 Super Allegro take your fancy?

Well that was a fun morning tongue out

Picked the bike up from Metropolis in Vauxhall and as anyone who's been there, it's straight out onto a one-way system, followed by a drive across busy Saturday morning London streets - just what's needed when you combine a Panigale Tricolore with a novice rider. But what a first bike nuts

Will post up some proper pics tomorrow - just have to either stare at it or ride it at the moment (in "Wet" or "Learner" mode as I call it)...

You are an idiot.

You've bought an animal of a bike, because it was pretty, that will teach you nothing about learning to measure corner speed, when to apply the power exiting a corner etc. like a smaller bike would, that's also known for having poor fuelling and low speed manners, to ride across Central London in busy traffic. You'd think quite literally brushing death would make you never want to ever repeat the experience, but hey ho. Living up to to the stereotypical new Ducati rider at it's absolute finest. Although, it is extremely pretty.

Still, they're your funds to enjoy.

At least with your money you must have a fit wife.

It's his money and his choice. You sound bitter if you don't mind me saying so.

Indeed, as I said, fair play, he can spend it how he likes.

You can't genuinely tell me you think this is a good foray into the world of motorcycling though? I mean, what the fk is a machine like that going to teach you about how to actually ride a bike properly?

No bitterness intended. The last line of my previous post was meant to be taken light-heartedly by the way, no sarcasm smile

I won't deny I am rather envious of his garage though!

He probably has a fit wife and a fantastic new bike, what's the problem? I'm not envious at all, I wish I could have had an 1198 instead of a crappy RD125LC smile

I have done quite a few miles on the road and track on exactly the same model, they are honestly a pussycat.

Is it a good first bike and the best way to learn the art of riding? No. Is he reinforcing the stereotypical Ducati rider image? Yes. But as soon as you brought his wife into it, you instantly undermined your point and come across in a way that some would interpret as being bitter.

I don't see the problem. Bikes only go as fast as you tell them to. You can kill yourself on just about anything, even a bicycle. The ABS and traction control already make it safer than a lot of other bikes too. I'd rather have had this as a first bike than my old Bandit 600, which wallowed around every bend and had brakes that felt like they were from the 1920s.

You picked a good weekend for it too!
