Don’t really have many of the AC Cobra as I’ve just got it, but here are a few of the bikes - all still being used and looked after biggrin

Yep - parents live up the road from there, so a nice Sunday morning run up for breakfast driving

Nice, that house was up for sale last year, Mrs and I were very tempted. Grade 2 listed though and the side elevation being propped up by next door..you can stick your head through that door if you're nosey.

Just been watching this on YouTube. Stripping down a desmo end up doing head gaskets, valves and ep 6 is interesting take the forks and shock back to Öhlins to be rebuilt.

I enjoyed this series a lot, always nice to see another video show up in my YouTube feed as updates were sparse (for reasons explained in the episodes)

Agreed on the öhlins video, especially as it showed how important the service was, just from natural degradation of the oil without any use.

It certainly is - 1970 Ironhead. Bit of a smoker, but should be a good winter project.

Looking good, also consistent with the V-tween engine theme too.

Just read through this again, what an epic journey into biking.
Any recent updates?

Literally a year to the day since the last post and I've just had a look through it again.

After almost 10 years since the thread was started how's the fleet looking now?

Been a while and got alerted to a nudge for an update from a friend, so here goes tongue out

First up, and in the title of the thread and the reason I went on this journey...I’ve sold my Desmo. Main reason was it just wasn’t getting used (two trips to Bike Shed and back in 2022) and it’s still around £1k a year on Insurance, so it just didn’t make sense to keep it. Got a great offer on it just before Christmas last year and off it went. Had a great 6 years with it so no real regrets.

Still have all of the other bikes though!

The Harley Davidson Bobber proved to be a real labour of love as the engine gave up the ghost not long after I’d got it and as a result had to buy another Harley to scavenge the engine (buying a full bike is really the only way to tell if the engine is any good). Took just over a year to sort out as my bike builder did it in his spare time. All sorted now and looks the nuts!

Speaking of builds, I have something quite special on the go (more of that in a bit). Firstly, a few people asked about the AC Cobra I have and it’s just the love of my life at the moment. Since I got it in 2019, I’ve put over 8k miles on it, both in the UK and France and it’s just about perfect. 427 S/C spec, ally body, 7ltr engine....

Finally the special build. Have been humming and harring on this for ages, but took the plunge and hopefully will have a Shelby Daytona Coupe completed by the end of the year. It’s ally bodied, Peter Knight Racing 289 V8 with 437bhp (Dynod) and a load of other trick bits (mag wheels etc) - here it is in build and what it’ll look like when done:

So a lot more car activity than bikes at the mo, but still out on them as much as the cars and still love it!

I like these and probably a lot more useable than a cobra.

What an update!

I don't blame you for selling the Desmo, there is no point in having it there collecting dust.

Am I the only one thinking this should’ve been regularly updated, especially with that above! Love the build, beautiful collection.
