Very well done fella. Just re-read your ordeal as well... Truly sobering. You need a black lid to complete the ghost rider look!

I wish you a very merry Christmas and best wishes with the the new Ducati.

Thanks for all of the kind comments biggrin

Just can't believe I didn't get into riding sooner - love it!!

Have a good Christmas all - will get pics up of the Panigale/Desmo when I get them - looking forward and dreading 2014 (dreading Jan at least!) in equal measure!

Good luck with the op in January. If the doctors fail you, my well equipped garage has a plethora of pliers, Stanley knives and tyre levers - a bit of gaffer tape and some cable ties and your spine will be good to go.

......no need to thank me, I'll store the Desmo free of charge and keep the Panigale in tip top condition.

Seriously though, it's a big operation and I wish you huge success and a speedy recovery. Hope 2014 brings you much health and V twinned nuttiness....

Congrats Duggan!!
Great choice of bike. Hope you enjoy the ride and it makes you alive. smile

And for all those miserable jealous green eyes out there, life only comes once. Forget your decade old R1s, go buy what your heart wants/wallet can, and live it! rolleyes

There was a great story of the guy who lived his dream and bought a Panigale to ride across America in the Jan edition of Bike magazine. Inspiring stuff.

Well they're out eek

Six weeks after the surgery now and about to begin physio biggrin

Have also taken the advise on the forum and brought myself a more sedate first bike to practice on - it arrives next weekendbounce

Now also on the hunt for a Desmo - Ideally with a GP exhaust system

Did you get to keep these then? Have they been auotclaved or ultrasonically bathed prior to those photos?

Yes - got to keep them (think there is some Euro nonsense about not being able to have them, but my surgeon is a nice chap and got them for me!) and they had been cleaned prior to me getting them back - got to figure out what to do with them?

I'm surprised they didn't try to keep them for the spare parts bin! Personally if I were you, I'd seal them in lucite with someone like the company below:

just read all 5 pages of this..... fair play to you mate. since a mate of mine got kicked to death on the way home from a football match im all for 'doing what you can whilst you're here'. lifes about calculated risks and as long as youve considered the risks that go along with the desmo then why not. people are always gonna have an opinion, doesnt mean its right. the only ones that are important are yours and your wife/kids.

nice power ranger suit btw thumbup
