After shap hill we went on through Preston at rush hour (bloody nightmare) then onto Wigan and we have finally stopped of in Newton le-willows at a hotel called "the pied bull hotel" such a good hotel and the food is amazing, massive portions and really nice if any of you are this way on I would definitely recommend coming in here for a meal, this is their Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/pied.bull.5?ref=search
probably worth recommending it on motogoloco.com - useful site.beanie1983 said:
Hi
We are just outside thornbury, I don't suppose anyone knows where there is a campsite close by do they?
The closest I can find is:We are just outside thornbury, I don't suppose anyone knows where there is a campsite close by do they?
Cotswold Gate Caravan Park
Bradley Green
Wotton Under Edge
Gloucestershire
GL12 7PN
It's slightly in the wrong direction though, about 6-7 miles north east of Thornbury, on the other side of the M5.
Are you going to follow the north coast all the way to Lands End, or are you going to visit south Devon/Cornwall?

all the best

Hi thanks for the suggestions but we managed to find somewhere... http://horthamfarm.co.uk they've only been open for a few months to campers and it's perfect for what we wanted, a field and some toilets/showers in a portacabin, another place I would recommend.
I'll just get all sorted and I'll update you

Not sure if I've missed it if it's been posted previously, but do you have a rough idea of a route you'll be taking?
I live in South Somerset and I'd happily come for a ride out to see you guys and offer some support in person, even if it's by means of a nice refreshing pint!
Let me know if you fancy it!
Keep up the good work and I love the idea of this trip, cracking stuff!

We will be leaving north Bristol at half 5 on the a38 then going to Tiverton, credditon, joining the a30 at oak Hampton. We will be doing an average speed 20mph....
Would be great if you could meet up for a swift pint.
John
I'll have to update this tomorrow when we stop somewhere that I can charge my phone and has better internet.
With a bit of luck we will be at lands end late tomorrow...

Gutted! Hopefully you won't be too far away by the time I finish work tomorrow to come for a ride out for a quick drink.
I'll check this thread tomorrow throughout work and hopefully we'll be able to make it happen.

Hi all
We've had a really tough day today, set off at 5am from Bristol heading into Bristol City centre before the traffic came, what a total nightmare Bristol is to ride around!!!
From there we went on the a38 to Taunton then to Tiverton and crediton, the hills between Tiverton and crediton were massive!!! We had to get off and push quite a few times and even had to change the front sprocket so we could get up them.
Then from there we went on the a38 towards Redruth
Got a campsite for tonight ready to do the last 40miles tomorrow
We are absolutely knackered ha

They do say that the hills in Devon & Cornwall are worse than Scotland, but I can't say that I had any trouble when I did my ride but I took a different route to you and I spent many hours studying maps to mark out a route to avoid as many hills as possible.
Well done to you all though you have been doing huge mileages each day, I gave myself more time and I only had 2 days when I did more than 170 miles.
A fantastic achievement all round and I hope you have a trouble-free run tomorrow..

I can understand you wanting to make progress as quickly as possible, but I think would have stuck to the north coast and enjoyed the scenery rather than endure the monotony of the A30.
You've made incredible time though, well done to all of you. Fingers crossed for the weather tomorrow, it's not looking too good at the moment
