What always gets me when Guy is on screen is how he wears his lid, the chin bar is so high I'm surprised he can see out. Is it a racer thing in general?
I thought it looked odd too! Perhaps when flat on the tank looking through the screen you're looking more up so it makes more sense if you're travelling that way whilst racing and it's just become habit for the rest of the time?
Or the above could be complete pish

I thought it was just that particular model of AGV that wears like that...have seem some of Rossis AGV the same from time to timeMotorsportTom said:

This is why. It's actually something that Crafar recommends in his Motovudu book/DVD. I gave a try last year and felt that it gave me a much better field of vision when I was riding tucked in without having to bend my neck as much. best one I ever got was when I emailed arsenal to get dennis bergkamp to sign my top as id be a fan for decades. I got an email saying send the top down and he will sign it. I asked how much and got a reply "nothing just send it down with your return address".
a few weeks later got signed top "to alex best wishes dennis bergkamp" got signed photos, books on arsenal and loads of other stuff for free. they paid for the postage. I sent him back some programmes and other stuff from my local team and a letter of thanks for that, he probably flung it in the bin but the gesture was awesome.
little things like that go a huge way imo.

Anyway enough footy, the Guy Martin stuff has been great would be good to see him hook up with James May they seem to share the same ideas, albeit Guy goes a bit quicker

Did you ever see tha one where him and his mate were trying to measure how much the land outside his workshop dropped away? He'd got a full-on bow and arrow (from somewhere!), tied a length ot string/rope to the end of the arrow and tried firing it over a tree in the distance so he could measure how far it went down from there. He fired it, the rope got caught round his leg or something, and the arrow rattled round his conservatory while him and his mate dived for cover under a table I loved his series', he was a proper old fashioned Brit eccentric!

Saw the one where he removed most of the bricks at the foot of a chimney lit a fire under it and waited, then went back to check on it and sprinted off saying it was coming down! Funny bloke and not terrible TV savvy especially when interviewing people about old stuff, as he already knew the answers to his questions he wasn't particularly interested in the reply and just kept saying "Eye, yep, yes, uhu, yes" etc

That's how he knocked all the chimneys down in his career. He was a complete tool as a person. "Routine I’m up at 5am and have porridge for breakfast. I bike to the Scania garage where I work, which is in Grimsby and about 19 miles each way. I’m not much of a chef so people keep buying me cookery books to broaden my culinary horizons, but I’ve not got far past shepherd’s pie yet. Then I’m in my shed fixing and making stuff until about 11 before showering and going to bed".
"Sideburns I’ve had sideburns since I was 16 but back then a gust of wind would have blown them off. I was racing in Australia and we all got drunk one night. One of the lads pinned me down and shaved one off. They thought I’d shave the other off to match but I just spent ages with one sideburn"
