I think that's the most common line isn't it?

That's definitely the line Dennis Hobbs told me to use as well. I think Niall Mackenzie endorsed it as well during the briefing.

I'll be honest I still struggle with it seems counter intuitive.

That was what I was saying to my new best friend Dennis.

I just couldn't get my head round the blind bit. He just said to keep getting on it.

I do think he's right. Especially if thats the line the celebrity riders like Biker's Nemesis are taking.

I'm tempted to take a trip up to KH to try my hand at this track day malarkey.
What are the morning sessions on a Saturday like? I'm guessing they will be pretty busy, and from what I've read may attract the 'wrong crowd' due to the lower price?

If that's what he says that's what I do.

Really nice guy actually.

its gonna be busy. It will be fine in novices, just don't take something you cant afford to bin.

Like the poor bugger who broke his ankle on his new mint cbr.

we were all saying it was nice, next session down he went

shame nice fella, hope it doesn't put him off.

I can't afford to bin anything! I only have one bike, my road going zx6r.

Is there a particularly high number of offs there? Is that due to track/number of riders/people pushing too hard?

Think there was something like 15 yesterday, there's always loads at knockhill. Think its the circuit.

You'll notice a big difference getting your gearing sorted. I had standard gearing on the NSR first time out in July and couldn't get proper drive out of the hairpin or Clark's - one gear was too high and the other too low if you know what I mean. I used the mytracks app on my phone to work out what speed I was doing on exit of Clarks and the hairpin and stuck it in to the calculator on http://www.gearingcommander.com and it worked out what sprockets I needed to pull around 8,500rpm in second exiting the hairpin which is where it starts to make power. Made a huge difference. A 520 race chain & sprockets saps less ponies too.

You'll gain a bit through taking all the road kit off and sticking on race bodywork, apart from the weight savings you'll go quicker knowing you're not going to do a grands worth of damage to your road kit if you come off. Fibreglass is a bit more forgiving and cheap to repair.

It's getting serious now...talk of vans, getting fit and suspension specialists. You'll be after your race license next! wink
wtf happened to you in the afternoon you were gone after lunch, it was the whole day!

Interesting comments about the chicane exit. Just watched some onboard BSB video's, and sure enough they all ride that kerb to some degree. That'll teach me for attending a superbike school day and not asking any questions. I will try this line next time out and hopefully shave another second off my lap times, cheers MTB biggrin

I'm probably slower doing it than taking your route. Reason being im yet to find how much speed I can carry through and get away with it. When I bin it ill know.

However, if I was to continue with your line, then when I came to shaving time off it would be even more counter intuitive as prolapse says possibly more difficult.

Right, listen up you bunch of sweaty socks,

You will never get faster riding around and around the same track, you need to visit more tracks, when you do and you're doing your sighting laps look to see where the run off is and then go fking nuts

Over analysing things will just make you slower.

Don't bother replying about excuses as to why you can't do it,

Just do it

Next year 100% I'll be up for visiting other tracks. We can share a van MTB.

I know I can go faster round Knockhill though, and for now the only way is to keep going round and round, and trying to analyse where I can improve. I know a guy with an RSV who can get round in 56 seconds. So this is my aim over the next couple of years.

First one you want to book next season, I guarantee I'll be there as long as it's not stupid money like fking CSS. No, and, ors or buts. I'll be there, right?
