right so you drop your psi going to the track as the tyres will be doing much more work than on the road and will heat up more than normal.
this is increasing the pressure inside the tyre.
reducing the pressure obviously would compensate for this once up to temperature but wouldnt it also increase tyre wear?
running at road pressure will see your tyre pressures increase beyond what you see on the road but surely that would reduce tyre wear as the tyre is firmer and has less flex
wouldnt the answer be increase more psi?
No. BN is right on both accounts.this is increasing the pressure inside the tyre.

Think about it. You're taking air out of the tyre (don't use the word pressure) to keep from abnormally high pressure, it should be about the same in terms of "firmness" overall because once you get running the pressures increase again.

I'm not sharing my pit secrets with amateurs like you.
Besides I least I know what the air in my fking tyres is for.
Seriously though can someone explain to me the actual reason for dropping pressureBesides I least I know what the air in my fking tyres is for.
I assumed it was so the tyre wasn’t overly inflated due to high temperatures on the track.
Should you be running road pressures when up to temperature on track? Or much less?
I went on the principle if it was under inflated even when up to a decent pressure on the track tyre wear would occur more than an over inflated tyre.
Obviously I’m wrong or ive done the usual and explained myself piss poorly

So the tyre compresses slightly, increasing the contact surface area. I assumed it was so the tyre wasn’t overly inflated due to high temperatures on the track.

I bumped into the fella yesterday on his BMW bobba thing, he was going really well on it, he was busy duffing a couple of lads up on an R1 and GSX-R 1000 on the way back from Kielder
On them tires John, what a guy!Thats one less excuse for me then
Me on my RD 500 chasing him with his track suite bottoms and his arse crack hanging out. (God rest his soul)
He would be Marc Marquez or at least his grandad.

Coming back from a days Tiger Fishing on Cahora Bassa in Mozambique.
Might not be a bikey pic but the bike got me there so it counts.
For reference, the lake is 300kms long, dams the Zambezi river for hydro power, has 6mtr Crocs everywhere which eat approximately 15 locals a month. The Tiger fishing is superb, and we went back out in this boat at 2am to inspect the Kapenta boats out fishing. It's another world!!

I have visions of BN - BB's ambassador - chatting people up in car parks telling them to join Pistonheads. Now shadup, we've said to much.
