Pretty sure he had them ceramic plated same spec as smads bike which worked well
Cool. If memory serves, Smads suffered some early siezures that were finally attibuted to the pistons being too tight in the bores. There was a lot of discussion on the AF1 site with Calvin Pollet of CPI, who stated that Steve Rothwell orderd the pistons much tighter than he recommended. This came out after a few TSS engines were nipping up and people looked for answers. Sadly Calvin passed away recently so who knows what happens now with these motors.

Got to do something pretty special at the weekend. Drove my uni's forula student car at silverstone against 94 other teams.

Not hugely bikey related, other than they all use bike engines. But it's you lot I know, not the car masses on here, so I'm posting it here.

New rubber time for the rear of the QT50, if someone can find me a 2.25 x 14 tyre from a reputable manufacturer I would be very grateful! All I could source was a Cheng Shin.

A Yamaha genesis 2 cylinder snowmobile engine with Garrett turbo charger. Has to run a 20mm restrictor, but churns out 80bhp at the flywheel.
Coupled to CVT (continually varying transmission) allowing u to run at peak power all the time.

Looks like the kind of bike meeting I like, lots of variety! The Duzmo (background of second pic) is always at Banbury, very unusual bike smile

Wow, thats an interesting combo! is it mandated or do you have choices? Can't imagine Snowmobile engines are easy to come by in the UK!! And why the turbo if only to run a restrictor?? What does the engine produce without turbo or restrictor in it's natural state?
