I used to love doing Enduro's, I did it every Sunday from Oct to April for a Decade. Now the big KTM is sold I'm debating whether to get another enduro/trail bike or a pukka trials bike and modify for trail duty.

Or staying warm :-)
I too thought about it for quite a while before selling my GSXR and buying the KTM but haven't regretted it for a moment. The 750 got used a couple of times a year, this one is out every second weekend, sometimes more. There's such a variety no two outings are the same.

I find the biggest challenge is staying cool. It can be quite a workout and the slower the terrain the more effort is required.
Same here. We ride in 28 to 38 degrees mostly and the slow technical stuff Is a killer. A 3 litre camel pack will barely last the first 2 hours.Having had tons of the usual suspects, KTM 400's, 300's, YZ's etc, I'm really leaning towards a trail modified trials bike. Slightly longer gearing, add on tank and seat unit and suchlike. Most of my riding is around rocky, technical stuff and the weight and ability to dab on a trials bike really appeals. The Enduro bikes always seem to tall and unwieldy when you're in the nasty stuff and having to manhandle the bike around. Something like the KTM Freeride, but better executed.

I need to get my finger out and buy a Off road Bike and join you's. Looks awesome.
My mate has two offroad bikes and the first time I had a go on his 1979 ts185 I couldn't wipe the smile from my face for hours. The next time round I had a go on his KDX200 and the first time opening it up on a green lane had me grinning like a chesire cat.
Without doubt an offroad bike is next on my list to buy.
You'll pick up a KDX for under a grand easy.

Is there plenty of runs around central belt.
They're everywhere, the trick is finding them. A mixture of local knowledge, learning from others, shared maps (gps) and google maps keeps us busy. We often try some trails that look promising but are a bust, others turn out to be worthwhile and are thrown into the regular rotation. The most important advice I could give is look for a road legal bike. The trails can last for a mile or 5 but you need to link them together with short road sections. Plus if you get any grief from the BiB (never had any) you need to be legal.
There's a lot of knowledge available online and we venture south of the border a few times a year to sample Yorkshire, Wales etc to try something different.
