Finally finished, 7 hours on Saturday, 5 on Sunday and then from 9am to 9.30pm today.
All it needs is a polishing, the panels are straight out of the loft after 7 years.
I think I am going to keep it for a road bike, its not worth selling it.

Looking good John, its difficult to see the hard worked worn out old track slag underneath All it needs is a polishing, the panels are straight out of the loft after 7 years.

Looking good - I might have missed the thread, but what is it? Not a silhouette I recognise.Fleegle said:
Just had a look on the bay. 5VY's seem to be going for good money still. I bet there aren't any for less than £4.5K that are anywhere near the condition that's in
I'm not sure they are that strong - I'd bite someones hand off if they offered me that for my 12k mile immaculate one. I have the seat and passenger pegs back on it now too 3DP said:

Looks great.
Does the front brake line just hang loose like that?
it does, they don't rub against anything, I may re fit the standard brake lines with the fittings, the Goodrich lines have been on the bike like that for the past 7 seasons on track.Does the front brake line just hang loose like that?
I still have the standard brake lines and all the fittings so I may go down that route together with a standard pitch chain and sprockets.

Hmm, might have to start looking at insurance costs for these, might be an option for a summer weekend bike...Edit: 2006 R1, £674 a year fully comp (£550 excess) - 4000 miles inc. commuting, licence not held for a year, 1 year NCD, garaged
