I love that bike...what did she make in the end?It didn't go on the dyno.
A good day with some real oddities turning up

Spot the sheddy old R1 buried amongst my household items last seen in a yellow box type storage unit straight from NL Mugello trackday last September.
Back home next weekend after 7 months away, rescue the battery from a mate and then push the thing up the road to Tesco's half a mile away to fill it up. Yay, it's still got insurance and MoT as I cannot arsed to to refit the headlights.
Unless of course, someone's broken in (room 101 btw, you've still got time) and replaced it with a 1200 Multistrada and a track prepped Blade or ZX10 - I can but hope!

Very cool. I bet all the old dears had a mildly moist moment seeing the lads back in town I bet you all had a right crack on them..
Top day out no doubt - look well.

Might be a bit of a daft question but does that have a chain and sprocket on both sides? Just the chain doesn't look much meatier than a road bike but I'm guessing it's putting out silly powerAlso is that shot took just at launch? Looks like the tyre is twisting and deforming on the rim at the bottom.
Drag tyres run at low pressure and are designed to do that during a launch.

Drag tyres run at low pressure and are designed to do that during a launch.
Basically they are designed to enable the side wall to twist and wrinkle at launch under the torque (giving rise to the name "wrinklewall tyre") - This softens the start, so the likelihood of breaking traction is lessened.
As the run continues and speed is gained the sidewall is unwrapped (by the centrifugal force from rotation) which puts the energy back into the cars acceleration.
The tyres expands radially outwards, in turn increasing the diameter (and reducing the contact patch - less crucial once speed has built up) giving a taller gear ratio. This enables a higher top speed while retaining the same transmission gearing.

And I thought double compound tyres were witchcraft, that's something else.
Theres a great video on the best bike clips YouTube thread showing a camera looking down the chain run on a drag bike launch you boys might be interested in, just been put on today or yesterday.

Looks great. I'd be tempted to do the swingarm and forks black as well. Would love one of these as a do everything bike, they're real bargains now and you'd never lose money on it. i resprayed the forks silver, they were black but the paint was knackered. The swingarm was rusty and tatty so i detabbed it and grit blasted it then had that sprayed too.
It's way, way too tidy now.

What was it, a winter project/refurb? It was a go on the back of one of these when I was sixteen that got me into bikes. Couldn't believe something could be so fast and pull overtakes down a B road the way it did.
