Awesome fun.

I tried out a 690smc r (aka a sewing machine compared to the Nuda) and saw a 990 supermoto R for sale but didn't look as good or have the noise so decided against it. (IMO)

I've found that I've adapted my riding style to being a hooligan. (Heavy acceleration and braking everywhere, throwing it around and blipping the throttle at every opportunity.)

Noise wise? 9.5/10.. You just need to learn how to extract the best sounds biggrin very quick sharp blips work well wink I've switched the exhaust to a Nuda R unit which looks better and also seems to sound a bit better too.

(difference between Nuda + Nuda R.. R is red, non r is black, R has a few bits of carbon fibre, R has even better brembos but some people complain they are vicious, R has T16 front sprocket instead of T17 and and R has ohlins suspensions vs non-r Sachs.)

Its fantastic fun around town, and is great at parting the sea of cars whilst filtering. The handle bars are a bit wider than some bikes so occasionally I have to dodge wing mirrors and squeeze between gaps when filtering, but its never caused a problem.

Handles very well, willing to turn into corners without a fuss and have no problem keeping up with 'faster' bikes on twisty roads. Suspension is very competent down twisty and bumpy b roads, although when really hammering I can tell the rear suspension is probably a tad hard. (Although I would have similar complaints for other bikes!)

13l fuel tank is a little small! There is only a reserve fuel light and when it comes on you have 10 miles or ten minutes to get to the fuel station quick! I've run out of fuel twice redface both times my fault really.. Once I couldn't be bothered to stop as I had enough fuel to get home (until I found out there was a massive diversion due to road works) and the other time I thought I could make it home before going to the petrol station (died at the bottom of my road about 700 meters from the station).

Very quick to 80.. and will keep going up to around 130 but things get very windy! You will feel as aerodynamic as a brick and of course your neck + grip will certainly feel it! One of the reasons I bought it was because you can use all of the power on the road and get much closer to the bikes limits compared to a super sport.

I very rarely ride it on the motorway because of the wind, tire wear, boredom etc.. Although I find the standard seat very comfortable and never have any problems after 3 hours of blasting around in the saddle. Something I never really thought about until one or two people have commented is that you sit on a Nuda and ride it where as other bikes you feel more 'in' or part of the bike. It feels like part of the experience to me but, it might be noticeable if you aren't that tall as the seat is quite high (I'm 6'2).

First gear is too high and second gear is too low for some rounder-bouts.. I'm sure switching to a T16 front sprocket will solve this (and I've had a sprocket sitting in the cupboard for the past 6 months), but I just haven't felt the need.

It doesn't like cruising at a steady pace very much unless you're in the right rev range and will seem agricultural if too low or too high you are encouraged to just blast around. If you switch it to rain mode (which reduces the power and makes it more smooth) its better, but because it doesn't sound as good, I only tried it a couple of times the first day or so I had the bike and never again.

Indicator is positioned a bit of a stretch away but you get use to it.

All the parts are decent quality and reliability has been fantastic.. Only been left stranded due to my poor fuel planning above ^

That ended up being quite a waffle! Sorry if some of it doesn't make sense; its late! And Let me know if you have any other Qs

p.s. it will obviously lift the front wheel if you want it.

I know nearly all of these old boys in this picture.

Chap on the right, looking down at the bike, was the previous owner of my duke.
Arkle.
He's got some great bikes, he let me have a go on his restored GT 750 with just 13 miles on the clock.

Nice Vincent amongst other stuff too.

I've also heard that they are releasing a 701 supermoto biggrin

"The 701 Supermoto features the same engine found in KTM’s 690 SMC R Supermoto and 690 Enduro R. The powerplant is a 690cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder that produces 67 horsepower at 7500 rpm and 50 ft/lbs of torque at 6000 rpm."

It will also weigh about 320lb /140kg

Henstridge airfield bike meet last night. The queue on the right is people waiting to have a blast on the runway, I hate queuing so didn't have a go. Some nice bikes there, got to see the new R1 in blue looks really good in the flesh!

Is that a repsol blade you're on?

I live a couple of miles away from the strip. Did you see the millyard V10 bike doing a run?

Nothing too exciting beyond a BMW reversing into it when I was parked. I was standing about 10 metres away at the time. Chap admitted full fault and called his insurance at the scene stating it was his fault. This is a dealer in Maidstone, Tony smile

Initial quote hasn't included the broken front subframe as repairer missed it. It took me 2 days to spot it, but knew something must have moved significantly due to the top fairing cracking.

I reckon once they've priced that and the extra labour it'll be another £500+ on top of that figure.

Fairly gutted.

Thanks - it is a shame.

Yes - the big mounting bracket off the headstock that everything mounts to.

The damage doesn't look bad at all as fell mostly onto grass next to the road, but it pushed in the corner next to the headlight quite hard. This has caused havoc around the headlight mount and subframe there, plus it's where two main fairing panels meet. The parts damaged in that area come to £1300 +VAT alone.

Basically, the way the Blade is designed, if it falls over and the mirror breaks/folds in, next thing to hit is this area where you damage 4 very expensive parts at once. Crash bungs wouldn't prevent this either. All of it is cosmetic though.

Sorry to hear this Pete, not good.
Hopefully it gets sorted quckly enough.
But 2k+ is easy to get to on the Blade, mine was close to 2500 and it didn't hit the road

Cheers Steve.

It's been a couple of weeks so far and the repairs have not been authorised or the finalised quote done yet. I would be very annoyed if I didn't have the Ducati to get my kicks on whilst the Blade is away.

I was lucky in that the forks, tank and tail didn't touch the ground and the R&G swingarm bungs saved the swingarm. Even the bar end and clutch lever went into the mud and came out unmarked! Other nice touch was that the brand new Akra on it was untouched.

How did yours cost that much without hitting the deck?

Mine took a punt on the left side of the fairing when a taxi bus pulled a U turn in front of me. Hit it at a glancing blow but the entire top fairing, headlight and clocks mount, headlight and air tube needed replacing and left hand bar, bar end and grip. And so did the LH fork foot/tube. Add in the labour and it quickly mounted up.
Mine was done however in a couple of weeks from accident to fixed, although I had to rent a bike to do an ET trip. Shame it was a GS frown
