Sunday on a bike in NWales - eek! Tons of other groups on bikes and loads of Police. No fun at all.

Far better to go "out of season", i.e. on a weekday.

I followed some of this route that I saw on a different forum earlier in the year some cracking roads .

Been on others to in the same area but tbh I have no idea where I went . Think Evo Barry said to me on a previous thread just go and get lost, tbh top advice you will struggle to find a bad road. The only bad point about the place is there are more Coppers than Petrol Stations.
That route takes in some of the roads I mentioned earlier too, Llangollen to Bala stretch at least. And the Denbigh area I said would be good biggrin

I had a quick flit over to Llangollen then Bala before having to head back as my riding mate had family to get back to, saw quite a few big groups but only the odd copper tbh, no worse than usual for a sunny weekend. Got a little shower on the way back, nothing to fret about though.

Was in North Wales yesterday, Ponderosa, Bala, Denbigh Moors, Ruthin few showers no police and avoided most bikers yesterday... Not sure where you guys must have gone but other than the weather pretty good for us, it's our usual playground.

Home now around 350 miles covered today. The day had ups and downs but don't think I'll make an effort to do that sort of run often. Way too many police and I wasn't best pleased about getting caught up in the other groups of bikes.

The next 14 days may drag.
Where did you go exactly chap?

We did the following if I remember correctly.

Usual motorway until the A55
Denbigh
Ruthin
Bala
Blaenau Ffestiniog
Beddgelert
Capel curig
Betws y coed

Took the A5 which is where the first van and police car were
Turned off the A5 at some point due to the police but there was another van on that road and headed for Chester then motorway back from there

I think we're all agreed that better knowledge would have helped. As I did take us down some crap roads due to only having a rough idea where we were. The full bore entrance into a little chef car park was pretty funny though. Due to the lack of signs on a roundabout I assumed straight on was the right way to go only to go round the next corner and notice it was actually a car park. I don't think anyone was expecting that!

I doubt I'd have taken us anywhere better, was still a nice change to Devils Bridge.

I just thought you were desperate for some disappointing grub biggrin

Ok... next time... forget the motorway run... head out of Manchester on the East Lancs and catch the A49 to Newton... follow all the way through towards Whitchurch (A41 / A49) and head towards Welshpool / Newtown... this keeps you off the A483 / A5 which is rife with police... you can then play in Wales... on the way back you can head back up to Newtown and across the A489 to Craven Arms then up the A49 again for something different...

I always use those roads in / out of Wales as it is quicker than the motorway / dual carriageways and little police presence ... I saw one police car all weekend!

If I were you lot I'd head for J&S near Northwich as a starting point (two miles from Oulton) head off towards Tarporley then Ridley, head off then to Broxton then Wrexham, then the worlds your oyster.

A5 is notorious for speed camera vans and the long stretches just make sure you're within the limits, there's also a black 3 series beemer that seems to travel up and down there (you have been warned), only time we use the A5 is to get to Denbigh moors which is a cracking fast road with pretty good visibility.

I live near Oulton/J&S and use these roads regularly too, A49 has unmarked dark Beemer and unmarked black FJR1300 at the very least so watch yourselves on that road between Sandiway and Whitchurch (its a very tempting stretch too once you're past the villages with the newly reduced speed limits).

Only section of A5 I use is to get from A5104 to A494 Bala direction. I've seen a few Plod on A4212 behind Bala too as that's a very tempting road on a big bike, lovely sweepers and scenery to boot.

B4391 is still my favourite road for playing on, its easy to reach, generally quiet and not fast enough to get you into huge trouble (you can still crack on but its twisty enough to keep you happy at semi reasonable speeds).

I will have to have a blast up that B4391 i nearly went up there a while ago. That big sweeping bend around the lake / reservoir on the A4212 = cloud9

Great roads and views around that area.

Aye around the lake is a belter and generally quiet compared to other roads, there's a couple of layby's where I've seen a camera van on the odd occasion but they're easy to spot usually.

Ponderosa (Llangollen) is a handy brew/take a leak spot, and feeds you into some good roads, if you have time I'd suggest heading to Bala via A5104/A5/A494, then A4212 round the back of Bala heading for Ffestiniog, then take a right onto the B4391 over the top, great run and usually fairly quiet. You'll eventually hit Ffestiniog so you can either A470 it back north to Betws y coed or go left and pick up A4212 again, back to Bala, as that run is pretty entertaining if its clear. Bala offers a few reasonable rest stops too of course. Failing that you can play around Denbigh moors, all the roads up there are decent really and if time is tight you can nip back to the A55 and slip home quietly biggrin

I'll be in the area tomorrow but probably on my old snotter Fazer600 as my mates a bit of a slow steady rider at the best of times tongue out
Been for a ride out today to scrub my boots in ended up randomly going to Wales. Was going to have a bash at the B4391 but it's been re surfaced so knocked it on the head. So wouldn't bother with that for a few weeks mate.

On the way I saw that Ginger fecker called Yazza, not sure what he was doing pulled over just past Hartford Lay by laugh
Any good at Oulton ?
