Name: Danny
Motorbike: Ducati 848 Evo
Owned Since: Sep 13
Previously Owned: Thundercat, ZX6r x 2, ZX10r. Still got a 1974 XS500 Yam

Why I bought it:
Needed to scratch the Ducati itch and if i am being honest with myself found the ZX10r just too bloody quick for the road.

What I wish I’d known:
Done the research, found a nice one so no surprises yet.

Things I love:
The looks, the noise, the involvement.

Things I hate:
The MPG and range (although this will work in its favour on our annual France/Spain trip, all the other sports bike riders will love me as it allows them to uncurl more often smile!!! Getting used to 12,000 rpm max.

Where I've been:
Nowhere yet other than days out locally. Taking it for a 5 day tour in France/Spain in July. It feels a little more comfortable than the ZX10r but I have not done a full days riding on it yet and maybe I am just hoping.

Costs:
Other than a few shiny bits, nothing so far.

What’s next:
Not a lot really, maybe a quickster? Lots of trackdays. Remove the fking bd will not come off rim tape.

Motorbike: ZX6R C1h
Owned Since: Feb 2012
Previously Owned:
CBR600(J) (before i could ride - got given for free)
RM125 (1994) (bought after ninja and sold shortly after)
FZS600 (1998) (bought after the fazer and still own)

Why I bought it:

1st bike. Was looking for a good deal. This came up v cheap. A guy took it off his mate as payment for some work and planned to do his test. Never got round to it. Was sat in his shed for a year. Had 7000ish miles on it

What I wish I'd known:

How much insurance costs! ha ha. Bought on a whim. Insurance was £1400 for 1st year and £1200 for 2nd year. TPFT!

Things I love:

99.9% of it

Things I hate:

dont necessarily hate but i could fart louder than the standard exhaust and the standard screen was a massive pile of turd. blocked ur view of the speedo and unless you were tucked in behind it directed the wind straight towards ur head!

Where I have been:

chunnel accross to france, belgium, germany (to the ring) and back again....

Costs:

just a st load on insurance....

Whats Next?

going back to riding my fazer due to the above insurance costs. insurance on fazer is £270 full comp!

Huh? It's your first bike but you have owned four previous bikes. Oh, and you bought your current bike in 2015? I'm confused.

Name: Jake.
Bike: 1972 Honda CB350 Four
Owned since: August 2012
Lives: New Mills, Peak District
Previously owned: An old Volvo and some "Classic Bike" magazines.
Why I bought it:

I was 21, and my girlfriend of 8 years had just walked out the door on me (No typo) And I was desperately hankering after a "Project" in shape of maybe a track car or something. Never even sat on a static bike before and as a "Cheer up" My good friend took me out on the back of his Buell XB9 and it blew my mind biggrin

I wanted to build a Cafe racer out of something old and Japanese for my first bike while I was doing my tests etc (On a budget!) so thought maybe a Yamaha XS, CB350 etc but found a video on youtube of a 350f being ragged up the street in Cali or somewhere and had to have one - didn't even know they existed!

Took me around a year of DIYing from picking it up from the importer to getting the V5, it's still not 100% finished to my standard but it's on the road smile

I wished I'd known:

That the rules were going to change while I was doing my tests and that I would end up with a 47hp restriction rather than a 33hp one - I would've gone for a British registered 400/F to base my project on if I'd known. Ho Hum!

How much of a pain in the arse registering a classic American Import is...

Things I love...

The glorious, glorious noise, the fact that I "Created it" while I'm riding down the street on it, handles ok, and feels like I'm doing 6000mph when I'm doing 60...

Tax exempt too smile

Things I hate:

Explaining that it's a 350 Four cylinder not a 350 Twin or a 400/4 to people (Ok i secretly love this wink )
That I'll never have the money to get it exactly how I want it, And it's stupidly loud which can be embarrassing.
It's underpowered for it's weight too...

Where I have been:

Around the peak district mainly, Into Manchester a few times, not far.

Costs:

Complete rebuild & bike itself probably cost me about £2000 all in all..

What's next?

Build a race-spec Yoshimura 570/4 engine for a transplant and a CB750 front end (I wish!)

Ok I'll join the thread.

Name: Simon
Motorbike: Honda CBR1100XX6 Super Blackbird (2006)
Owned Since: July 2008
Previously Owned: Honda CBR600F-2 (also known as F4i) 2003 Reg, Yamaha R6 1999, Suzuki GSXR600K3 2003, Aprilia SL1000 Falco 2000, Suzuki SV650S 2000, Kawasaki ZX6R-F3 1997

Why I bought it:

Was looking for a decent large CC sport touring bike which could also be an all rounder for my daily commute. One test ride and I was hooked on its performance.

What I wish I'd known:

Suspension is a bit budget and not really setup for easy adjustment. Rear suspension see my recent thread

Things I love:

Performance, smoothness, handling given its such a large bike you really don't feel it above 20mph.

Things I hate:

Suspension I've made do until now. CBS Combined brakes not so much the front+rear working off the lever but applying the front given enough rear pedal travel - solved by junking. Braking performance is adequate and probably needs an upgrade to meet my requirements too.

Where I have been:

Daily year round all weather commuting in London. Euro trips ultimate destination listed: 2008 Austria and Northern Italy, 2009 Switzerland, Italian lakes, 2010 Spain and Portugal, 2011 mainland Greece south of Athens. Ride outs in the UK generally to boxhill or down to hampshire to visit the family.

Costs (stuff thats gone wrong/broken)

CCT, New Rad, replacement rear shock, right hand mirror glass

Whats Next?

Full suspension refresh and keep it or get something else budget permitting.
New bikes interested in Speed 1050, MT-09, Multistrader
