After much consideration, I've just bought a set of Power 3s in 120/70 and 190/55 for £200 delivered - which is an amazing price.
Good man Anything's better than the Dunlob stsmarts on the GSXR now.

I think I am about to do the same, can you remind me if the 55 profile is the standard set up? Also what effect does the 50 profile have?thanks
I'd check on bike specific forums for whether it's a good idea on your make/model though.

Came close to buying the Rosso Corsas again, but the Pilot Power 3s work a little better from cold, last longer and are a little cheaper. The Rosso Corsas on a sunny day are spectacularly good though and much better than the Power 3s once they get hot.

I got over twice the mileage from Pilot Power 3's than I did with the original Pilot Powers... their cold weather and rain weather ability is superb. As a fast road tyre I really don't think you need any more... work fine on track as well.Anything's better than the Dunlob stsmarts on the GSXR now.

Varies bike to bike. Most sports bikes I've had that take a 190 rear are specified with a 50 profile, but in most cases a 55 profile speeds up the steering and turn in, making them handle sweeter at the expense of a little stability.

It does... but having used the 55 series on an R1 I've gone back to 50 series... the 50 series is more stable, has more contact patch upright and doesn't change the gearing or rear suspension height.I'd check on bike specific forums for whether it's a good idea on your make/model though.
For track work I'd use a 55 series for the larger side contact patch but for the road the 50 series is fine.
Personal opinion TBH - try both.

I used Power 3s on my Euro trip last year on the CBR and they were excellent in 2 degrees and wet in the mountains, on the motorway and hacking through the valleys in 28 degrees. They lacked a bit of feel and grip when very hot, but lasted extremely well. I had the Rosso Corsas on before so were a direct comparison and for summer ragging, it definitely has a decent edge on the Power 3. Unfortunately they are a bit wooden in the cold and don't last long.I also hate Dunflops

50 vs 55 - I've switched from 50 to 55 on a ZX7R, a 996S and a ZZR1400. In each case it's been a decent improvement without a noticeable effect on the gearing. The GSXR is already a bit saggy at the back so sorting the rear shock will be tied in with this 55 replacement, but the existing tyre is a 55 anyway.
The ZZR is definitely less stable with a 55 though - on the new Pilot Road 3s I put on, I had a pretty decent tank slapper over bumps, accelerating full throttle in second - caught it on video too! You can't take the piss like you can on a Honda with its awesomely effective HESD system. The Honda means you can land wheelies with the bars on the lock stop and it sorts it out with barely a wiggle.
