Did he blow up, or was that just dust blowing back onto the track from his trip through the gravel?
The speed that bike was skidding along the gravel trap I think it went boom, oil on rear before the braking point for turn 16 and he ejected.

it didnt look like gravel dust to me, especially that far back from the trap with no wind, and im sure i saw oil on his bellypan.

Yeah, the second replay of the crash definitely made it look like oil smoke in amongst the gravel dust.

Not going well for Jorge here. If he is experiencing the same issues as he was with the tyres in Sepang (and judging by his hand signals to his Bridgestone tech earlier in have session then he could be) this could prove to be a very tough weekend.

Good point made in the commentary, not only will the forward racing bike allow Yam to adapt towards the spec ECU, they can throw factory bits at it to test pretty much unrestricted during the season.

Hope Honda do likewise.

It won't really work on the Honda as it doesn't have the pneumatic valves and other cleverness. In theory I suppose they could give them the full factory engine and gearbox, but that brings in a secondary issue: ownership. The Yam is leased whereas the Hondas are bought outright and I can't see Honda being prepared to effectively sell their factory kit.

Yeah I know, but I'm sure if H approached Gresini and offered to 'lend' them chassis upgrades, sealed engines and gear boxes for their Open bike, to race and test - they wouldn't complain! biggrin Prob more likely Hayden would get it though for developments sake.

Interesting session that. Wonder if EspA in particular can keep ahead of the usual suspects. And I really hope Bradders proves me wrong at long last!

Reading Lorenzo's comments and he is really pissed off about the tyres. He says that they are as bad as when at Sepang for testing.

Redding had a throttle problem that resulted in it staying wide open for 2 metres after he closed the throttle. Scary!

Laverty's bike would only run on 2 cylinders so he didn't get any laps in.

Interesting MotoGP session, looked like everyone was using the medium tyre, no coloured stripe (it's the soft option for factory and hard option for open class). I didn't see any white stripes (open soft option) on anyone, yet.

Aleix & Iannone both set fastest laps on the open soft tyre, did you see the way the ducati left bradl for dead down the straight!

That did surprise me, it was like 2007 again.

some crazy max speeds, Aleix 10kph down on Pol so if he can get to the front he might be passed on the straight every lap. Which makes for great racing.

your forgetting one thing....

in the race EsA has 4 litres of juice more than EsP, so that speed difference wont exist.....

I bought the package from motogp.com to watch the races. At first I wasn't too sure about blowing £85 on it but given the amount of content you get, it works out as pretty good value. I'm currently watching the 2006 Turkish GP. Remember when satellite bikes were competitive?

No complaints at all here about the channel that must be named, Jules and Kieth were on top form......great to hear them together again.
I love that they know all the links to the past and point them out with regards to who's who in the paddock.

Am I right in saying everyone bar Aleix & Iannone only used the medium tyre, the one without a coloured stripe.... so that's soft option for factory but medium option for open class?
Aleix & Iannone both set their fastest laps on the open softest tyre.

Ah got ya thanks smile
I loved the VR46 team sky rider doing massive wheelies out of the pitlane and at every opportunity....someone who clearly loves what he's doing.

Talking of loving what you are doing...good to see Jorge back to his petulant self..Leopard & spots springs to mind

Watched the qualifying last night when I got in and really like the new commentary team. I couldn't sit through the whole 4 hours of coverage of the the day of practice though.
