not a great bit of riding on multiple counts, what stood out to me more than anything else prior to the crash was buzzing the cyclist, please give them some room
he was fking lucky to walk away too. time to buy a lottery ticket?

not related but seeing this reminded me of something I saw on the way to work this AM.

Just incase you do happen to read pistonheads BB

To the rider of a green Kwaka ZX riding near Magna Carta School, it's not big or clever to wheelie your bike at 60+ in a 30mph zone outside a school at 8am you numb nut.

So many motorbike riders don't actually know how to steer.

That's a rubbish corner if you don't know the road... downhill, off camber, st visibility and looks like it's going to continue turning at a consistent angle before it tightens right up.

I've seen 3 crashes there, surprisingly none of them fatal.

if he had a decent line he might have seen that, but as he was snug with the wall his own fault.

I suppose he knows now that he went past two big SLOW markings and then the sharp bend arrows. So what we would people say he has done? Got too close to the wall as he lost speed in to the bend. Started focusing on the wall and perhaps braked or stood it up a little before latching on the car?
The bike followed where he looked, like they do!
Thankfully he didn't do what many do and look at the hazard (in this case the oncoming car)..he looked for a gap and found it.

Lucky boy, very lucky

Is that why it's got double white lines and the word "SLOW" painted in the road twice on the approach?

Do people actually completely ignore double white lines then? What a tool.

Since he made that mistake I would have to assume it was his first time along that road so I would have thought (along with all the slow signs and corner warnings) the big double white lines down the middle of the road that he crossed a number of times would also make him take a more cautious approach to corners and any limited visibility of oncoming traffic and sheep.

Perhaps he did focus on the car, but it slowed quick enough for him to pass across its front
If he'd focused on the car he'd have hit it, no matter what it did.
That is how target fixation works.

Saw this on the other thread yesterday, crap lines, no idea of road positioning, and generally a rubbish bit of riding all round, he was a very lucky boy to be walking away from that.

I confess, occasionally I ignore them. On some, even my woefully slow 125 had time, space and visibility to nip out and back in. I suppose, along with 50mph stretches, they are becoming more common as a solution to tightening-down on accident rates.
this, on the stretch to galashields they have painted long, long stretches of double white lines that really dont need to be there for a bike.

I however obey them, unless its a vehicle traveling at walking speed in which case you're allowed to overtake

I always obey them....unless as above or a queue of cars move over for you and you can filter past without crossing the white lines

...doesn't stop other bikes overtaking myself and other cars though....some people take their brain out when they get on a bike....and they might get away with it for a while,..but when st happens and you end up with the Police investigating, it will be a ban for dangerous driving coming your way

As BikeSafe copper mentor Yoda type bloke told me.....
Solid white lines cost more to paint than broken white lines. Councils don't spend money without a good reason.

Blimey, silly bugger won't do that again in a hurry.

Lucky he walked away from that.
