I was going to go for a ride at lunch, might see you whizzing about MK then!
If I saw your Hyperstrada I would of tried to follow just to look at it! Love them cloud9

Was just looking for some muddy fun today and discovering some nice little quaint villages.

I'll probably be out again later if you are, could go for a blast if you are still about.

BBQ time now, but I'll be out over the weekend in the rain hehe

Wouldn't want to bore you either, my bike isn't best suited to the many main roads round MK I can just about keep to the speed limit!

Finally being fixed, no measurements for how much fork oil to put in online or in the manual but the general consensus is to just fill it so it is covering the spring so I'll try that out and add/remove oil if needed.

It's all very simple now I have it apart. All I have to do now is fill the left leg, change the other fork seal and do front and rear pads. Hoping I get it done today..

I DID A THING!

A mate of mine had a Chinese bike about 8 years ago and the swing arm bolt just sheered in half along with various other issues. That said, it is/was only a matter of time before they managed to bridge some of the gap between them and their Jap counterparts. The biggest thing aside from build quality is the parts back up and aftercare, if they can sort that out (which by the comments about parts availability they are) they they could be half way there. Keeping the design simple will also help with people wanting to self service the bikes.

More recently a friend of my brothers has a Chinese Supermoto, seems to take his abuse fairly well, quite robust. A local bike dealer sells and repairs them, although I've not seen many others about. If this make is popular and they can get a small dealer network started they could start getting somewhere. Rusty downpipes are hardly the end of the world, some of the better Jap bikes suffer that, looks the part though!

Well done Liam. Seems like you're doing well, hope you manage to complete the job entirely successfully!

Seems your job has helped your mechanical confidence already! This will only add to your confidence and help you begin to take on any job alone in the future.

Only in MK for the weekend visiting my Mum before she moves, this is probably my last weekend here frown Shame I'll lose all the nice little roads I have found this weekend.

Yep, all done, had it checked over by my mums boyfriends mechanic friend to make sure I wasn't going to kill myself. Only thing is, there is no measurements ANYWHERE for how much oil to put in so I just filled it up to the top of the spring and it is fine.

The job really has made me more confident, and being in MK in the garage with all the tools (and my mums baking..) to help me made me want to do it. I have nothing in London and don't even have a undercover place to work on it so I try to avoid it.

Some pictures from my weekend

Sorry for the big post!
Next on the list, is the downpipe, a service kit, chain and sprocket and a new rear indicator lens because mine has gone black from the exhaust.. stupid place to put the indicator.

I hate it, it's SO SLOW. I need a bigger bike NOW.

It is still running perfect but I was riding it today to fill it up and all of a sudden I just hated my bike. 2 years I have been on these fking things for, someone give me a full license and a DRZ400SM please and thank you.

Also finally got another CBT booked on Friday so should be fun.

Have a picture

If your CBT ran out the other week how are you allowed to be riding around on it?

I've ridden it once to the petrol station today about a mile away to fill it up because I'm using it on my CBT. Those pictures are from the day it ran out when my mate bought that DR.

Fair enough, like the look of that but it needs an exhaust badly!

I've got my driving test booked next month and if I pass I might be tempted to get an RS or a 2 stroke of some sort and become a fair weather wker until my A2 hehe

2 questions with pictures,

numero uno, is it okay to have bubbles in the oil in the sight glass? This was after going for a good ride and it was quite hot.

numero dos, is this a fuel leak or is it where I ran out of petrol and was holding the throttle open to get it started on reserve? That's the carb going to airbox/filter

Ignore the dirt, I have been off road A LOT. I have a deep clean and some maintenance planned for it in the near future.
