My Sinnis Apache..
Discussion
Just ticked over 2000 miles done on it now, and I still love it like the day I got it.
Alright so maybe now the front is very bouncy and I have NO rear brake (Doesn't even hold on a slight hill..) but I am getting those fixed tomorrow now I can take a day off work and I'm off to Milton Keynes today for the first time on it to have an explore and see what I can find.

I'll probably be out again later if you are, could go for a blast if you are still about.
BBQ time now, but I'll be out over the weekend in the rain Wouldn't want to bore you either, my bike isn't best suited to the many main roads round MK I can just about keep to the speed limit!
Finally being fixed, no measurements for how much fork oil to put in online or in the manual but the general consensus is to just fill it so it is covering the spring so I'll try that out and add/remove oil if needed.
It's all very simple now I have it apart. All I have to do now is fill the left leg, change the other fork seal and do front and rear pads. Hoping I get it done today..
I DID A THING!

Cheers guys, certainly come a long way since when I first got that Husky and blew the HG..
The job really has made me more confident, and being in MK in the garage with all the tools (and my mums baking..) to help me made me want to do it. I have nothing in London and don't even have a undercover place to work on it so I try to avoid it.
Some pictures from my weekend
Sorry for the big post!
Next on the list, is the downpipe, a service kit, chain and sprocket and a new rear indicator lens because mine has gone black from the exhaust.. stupid place to put the indicator.

Where about are you based? I live near MK
Only in MK for the weekend visiting my Mum before she moves, this is probably my last weekend here Shame I'll lose all the nice little roads I have found this weekend. 13aines said:
Well done Liam. Seems like you're doing well, hope you manage to complete the job entirely successfully!
Seems your job has helped your mechanical confidence already! This will only add to your confidence and help you begin to take on any job alone in the future.
Yep, all done, had it checked over by my mums boyfriends mechanic friend to make sure I wasn't going to kill myself. Only thing is, there is no measurements ANYWHERE for how much oil to put in so I just filled it up to the top of the spring and it is fine. I hate it, it's SO SLOW. I need a bigger bike NOW.
It is still running perfect but I was riding it today to fill it up and all of a sudden I just hated my bike. 2 years I have been on these fking things for, someone give me a full license and a DRZ400SM please and thank you.
Also finally got another CBT booked on Friday so should be fun.

If your CBT ran out the other week how are you allowed to be riding around on it?
I've ridden it once to the petrol station today about a mile away to fill it up because I'm using it on my CBT. Those pictures are from the day it ran out when my mate bought that DR. sc0tt said:
Nice work chap. You have sorted your phone and you can work on bikes.
Get another bike you nobber!
2 questions with pictures,
numero uno, is it okay to have bubbles in the oil in the sight glass? This was after going for a good ride and it was quite hot.
numero dos, is this a fuel leak or is it where I ran out of petrol and was holding the throttle open to get it started on reserve? That's the carb going to airbox/filter
Ignore the dirt, I have been off road A LOT. I have a deep clean and some maintenance planned for it in the near future.

Bubbles in the oil suggest it's getting rather hot to me, no real surprise this weather.
That 'leak' might be related, is the rubber pipe on the left of the shot the crank breather by any chance? It's not unusual to get oil mist out of them (indeed it's what they are there for) & if it's not perfectly sealed you get marks like that around them.
Ah that would explain it. It was very hot, it was being ragged down my favourite roads in this lovely weather before I stopped for a fag break and noticed it That 'leak' might be related, is the rubber pipe on the left of the shot the crank breather by any chance? And that pipe, you mean this one?
That's also a perfectly good explanation, cheers!

Yup that looks like a breather pipe. I take it that it goes back to the crankcase somewhere? Piston rings never give a perfect seal (well occasionally they do as part of a seized engine...) so there is always a bit of pressure there to vent ( it also sucks in occasionally if the engine is suddenly cooled or at particular points in the cycle) hot oil vapourises and gets blown out, hence the mess.
It does, yes Makes sense, thank you very much for the explanation

so like any other 17 year old he thrashed an unbroken in engine.
Careful to jump to assumptions sir, he got it off someone I've known for a while who is a bike mechanic, so it should of been fine. Funny thing is, he got the DR over a 2 stroke for the reliability Maybe my bike breaking disease is on him now.
