The Motegi race that Ryder referenced was the most pronounced and obvious example of self learning electronics that it have ever seen. Incredibly clever stuff.
And in 5 years time they will become self aware and will kill all humans.

Fascinating hearing how these bikes "learn"
What is it about them that learns ? The mapping or something ?

I'm finding Ben's Pies insight utterly fascinating. The high regard that he holds for Stoner and Marquez really shows how good they are.

Historically it's been for fuelling and traction. The fuelling is constantly monitored and the bike knows how far it still has to run. It can then throttle back the fuelling to ensure the bike reaches the flag. The rider aids seems to be more about the bike 'remembering' how much traction was available at each corner and the modifying it's rider aid map accordingly.

Agreed, great insights from Spies.

Marc seems likes he's on a different planet this weekend.

The ECU is now standard across all bikes, but the Factory teams can develop their own software. The Open teams have to use the 'championship' software which is basically the Dorna controlled spec software.

Also point to make, Redding only a quarter of a second back from Pol Espagaro on the Tech 3 yam. Top work that man.

How can anyone beat marquez when he's lapping faster than the rest and he's the only one on a hard tyre?

All he has to do is be in the first group for 3/4 the race then strike when there tyres degrade.

Pretty good work by dovi and iannone but doubt they'll recreate it in qualifying.

Says something when they can only get within 1.1 seconds of him on the soft tyre and Marc's tyres are two grades harder.

came on to post the same, watching it with breky this morning after not finishing it last night, wouldn't normally but i think bens voice is so easy to listen to, would be a great addition moving forward.

Why were you eating breakfast last night and why did you not finish it? Surely it's a bit soggy this morning?

I agree though, was never really a fan of Spies, but his spell in the commentary box last night was fantastic. He gave a really good insight into the qualities of the bikes and they way he talked about MM and CS and their ability was very interesting.

For the race, I'm thinking

Marquez

Pedbot
Vale

ha ha! my breakfast is always soggy anyway tongue out

his statement about being unable to see how CS & MM could go as fast as they do/did was quite an eye opener, from someone as quick as Spies?

on the other hand, Rossi & JL were quick through being smooth & something he could have aimed for, very interesting comparison, be interested on his view of Pedrosa.
