Clubman or proper shape?
A proper old fashioned round bonneted Mini 850 with thos e hideous alloy and rubber bonnet retainers. One of which neatly removed my left ring finger, whilst the bumper/overriders provided me with a compound fracture to my left Tib & Fib. At the same moment the big round Lucas headlight that was no use to see with managed to smash my Femur and hip simultaneously. Other minor/major injuries then occured as me and the bike all entagled got tumbledried down a banking resulting in 4 broken ribs, punctured lung, smashed scapula and collar bone. Many metatarsils etc too.

A mere breeze followed with 9 months in hossie thinking about it.

I feel guilty now trivialising your accident and trying to make light of your riding inadequacies. I apologies.

No, by riding and getting experience.

I'd never, ever heard of countersteering until I started reading this forum. I'm in no doubt that I've been doing it since I started riding but it's not some magic answer-all to being able to ride a motorcycle well.

I can understand that people want to learn and better their riding, but it sometimes seems like people want a quick win instead of simply getting some miles under your belt.

Chill fella. It was almost 40yrs ago now. It changed my life but who will ever know if as a result I made better choices or worse choices. One thing remained constant though, I love motorcycles. However there are still many out there who are faster/better/braver than me and good luck to them. Whether they got there by skill, talent, DAS, Born Again I dont care just as long as we all enjoy it whilst we can. I know that I do.

I'm not biting, at least I managed to get off my drive and just nearly crash..........

There's plenty time for you to do that yet, it took me over 30 years of road riding to manage it, oh and I wasn't on the drive.

I reckon the reason you're so slow is because you never seem to be on the road much. A few years off here and a few years off there.

Agreed, there isn't a substitute for experience. That being said actively thinking about the process while testing and trying various things out does accelerate the rate of at which this experience is obtained. There is a difference between simply clocking up the miles and having a learner's mindset. I've done about 9000 miles in the year since my DAS (all for fun, no commuting), roughly 700 of those in the mountain roads of northern Spain and I still consider myself a beginner, there are quite a few things I need to improve to bring my riding to a decent standard.

Well it is still in the garage, I have calmed down a bit since Sunday, it did shake me up somewhat as two random events happening like that within 15 minutes of each other would do any mere mortal (unlike yourself) and I've told the missus (and the whole internet) that I have quit now....

Oi I resemble that remark.

It is a bind when you are doing stuff online and they want your D.O.B. it takes ages to scroll down to 1958 and even then I need my magnifying glass to see it correctly.
