Theroux must have 10 years on the pair of you. I'm off out to drink cheap lager and watch west ham.

Enjoy looking after the grandkids

We still need to sort each other's suspension - me to help you with yours and you to somehow assist me in unloading the suspension on the ZZR mothership to measure that!

I'm away into the garage to get my bike ready for a trip to Aragon, enjoy your cheap larger and taking pictures of your bike half hiding in the dark behind a garden gate.

By having granddads pass on their wisdom in bike meets I imagine? I wasn't around between WWI and WWII you'll have to confirm it with the resident elders.
No, by riding and getting experience.

I'd never, ever heard of countersteering until I started reading this forum. I'm in no doubt that I've been doing it since I started riding but it's not some magic answer-all to being able to ride a motorcycle well.

I can understand that people want to learn and better their riding, but it sometimes seems like people want a quick win instead of simply getting some miles under your belt.
Agreed, there isn't a substitute for experience. That being said actively thinking about the process while testing and trying various things out does accelerate the rate of at which this experience is obtained. There is a difference between simply clocking up the miles and having a learner's mindset. I've done about 9000 miles in the year since my DAS (all for fun, no commuting), roughly 700 of those in the mountain roads of northern Spain and I still consider myself a beginner, there are quite a few things I need to improve to bring my riding to a decent standard.
you should always feel like that (wanting to improve), even with 100K miles and loads of track time on different bikes

when you start to feel like you've really got the hang of it...thats usually about the time when it really bites you just to let you know you there's more to learn yet wink

Yeah in connection with No Limits, we get 30 minutes nap time every 2 hours and a nurse on hand to make sure we take our medication.

I was a little rusty but apexes were being hit and the front wheel was occasionally airborne which meant I hadn't forgotten how to ride.

Well it is still in the garage, I have calmed down a bit since Sunday, it did shake me up somewhat as two random events happening like that within 15 minutes of each other would do any mere mortal (unlike yourself) and I've told the missus (and the whole internet) that I have quit now....
Comebacks are the stuff of legends. Only a true great can quit then return to a posit ie reaction from all.

TBF that's a bit like crossing the road and being hit by a bus twice in one day. Just pure bad luck mate.

Get back on the horse and enjoy it :-)

Looks as though he wasn't back for good.
He needs something to relight his fire.
