Maybe he meant a Yamaha FS1E? confused
Still not much to write home about.
That's the point.
It's "Fizzy 50" not fizzer. Quite a basic error.

He'd also heard of a PS50, which I just made up, but never heard of a CB50.
erm.... maybe he's right, I give you the Honda PS50 ;-)

The "born again biker" name has been corrupted since DAS.

Originally it was used to describe someone who "used to have a 650, so a 600 will be easy" without realising there was quite a difference between the BSA A10 they used to have and the R6 they'd just bought. Often resulting in the innevitable trip to A&E.

These people were the opposite of DAS'ers, they were people who'd had their licences for years but been away from biking. Hence the born again bit.

DAS is a far more thorough training than most people had prior to it being introduced.

It wasn't what I said at the time as I couldn't remember.

Yes. Born again is correct.
I don't think people talk about them nowadays though tbh. It's all about DAS lot.

It comes in part from bikes having power that would have been GP level not very long ago. Racers often comment that some of the production kit they test is as brutal as a 2 season old superbike. Then just add some incompetence and the odd tricky corner and off into the hedges they fly. All I could hear yesterday were riders nailing their bikes in a straight line. Every track day you see the same thing, people with no clue how to carry corner speed or what to do when things start going wrong. The roads aren't up to 180HP missiles and if they were the tyres, traffic and police should.

Still down the pub it gives them something to talk about, losing the front, spinning up and 'just missing' this and that whilst riding like dheads.

I only ride at weekends, I ride a sports bike, I have full leathers and no textiles, I'm a DAS rider, I'm middle aged and and I only ride in the warmer months.

I'm everything most of you hate on here.
I can't believe nobody has passed comment on my earlier post.

Forgot to mention I ride a bike that is apparently "better than any race bike I ever had" according to James Whitham.

I also probably only do 3000 miles a year.

Come one, tell me why I'm st.

Get a classic and potter about on back roads too small for the straight line warriors to bother you on is my advice. It's worked for me and rekindled my love of bikes smile
That would be my suggestion as well.

And there's enough 'normal' people riding classics these days as well, meaning you don't have to become a 'beardy weirdy' wink

Did he mean a better race bike or a better road bike?

I'm struggling to keep up with who's currently to blame for sullying the reputation of this hobby:

So, it's the scooter kids/CBT muppets; no, it's the DAS people...ah, it's the born-again middle-aged tubbies, it's the chavs; it's the ATGNI/FWB/straight-line twonkets?
R1Loon, it's all R1Loon.

So at what stage in ones Biking career is it OK to buy something >100hp in all the Long Term, 7 Day, All Season Biker's almighty opinion?

Some people who come to biking via DAS (Me) do not do it just to get on last years superbike and ride flat out everywhere. I am well aware I'm still learning, but just as with cars, I don't care how many miles you have ridden/driven it doesn't mean you in a better position than anyone else to judge. People have to gain their experience one way or another.

You will always get people who hold other people up, are inexperienced, or going too quick for road/conditions, in inappropriately powered vehicles - age and experience do not necessarily a good pilot make.

Sorry about your Sunday OP - I hope you get back on it soon for all the right reasons.

In my opinion this proves conclusively that it's riders who don't use Honda Deauvilles that are to blame. But that's only my opinion.

Scott - if you are looking to buy, this is the one to go for. I can confirm that he will never attempted to do anything on maintenance due to being hopeless and too old to learn, also the bike is unlikely to have gone north of 6000 revs, because as well as being too old to learn, he's tubby and slow
