Bike alarms with pagers - recommendations?
Discussion
I've just been paid out by the insco (they don't hang about these days, do they?) after having my pride and joy R1 stolen I will be replacing it.
This is the first thing I have ever had stolen in my life (except for a biro at school) and I swear it will never ever happen again. I could seriously kick myself about this all day long.
Anyway - the new bike will be alarmed as the last line of defence, but I think a paging alarm is the way to go. Does anyone have one? Any recommendations? It *must* be a paging alarm; I cannot rely on other people reacting to my stuff being lifted.

Why pager?
A text message is more reliable and tbh I doubt the pager service will exist for much longer.
I also doubt any alarm manufacturer have developed an alarm that is clever enough to ring up a call centre and relay a message, unless it's done by a PC of course.
Pager, text - not bothered. I want it to get me out of bed. I'm asking for advice.A text message is more reliable and tbh I doubt the pager service will exist for much longer.

I've fitted Biketrac by Road Angel to my Multi. Some very good reviews and happy endings

That's the sort of thing I'm looking for. I'm just going to have to take the cost and subscription on the chin - the price we pay for living in a society teaming with thieving scum, sadly. It's actually going to cost me twice that - got the OHs bike to do as well. https://www.roadangelgroup.com/biketrac.aspx

On the plus side you can swap it onto your next bike, but I agree, it's the price we pay if we want to keep something.Andy XRV said:

I have this on my bikes as well - it's also useful when you drop your bike off to the dealer/garage for servicing, and you can track where it is at all times and get alerted if it is being ridden outside of the garage and where to. On a more mundane level, it's been useful to track if the garage/dealer is delivering the bike back to you, and to see where it is and can be expected to reach you. Paging alarms are the eay to go IMHO, I've said it for years. I was sat in the pub and could see my bike out of the window but when somebody bumped it and set the alarm off I couldn't hear it, just saw the indicators flashing. So I fitted a pager to the Datatool... have a Google for LCA2000, it's meant for cars but works just as well on a bike (can be used standalone as well).
