In MCN he is quoted as saying "I've been building it for four years and I'm not joking when I say there isn't another motorcycle like it. I'm building it to ride the Pike's Peak Hillclimb."

I expecting nothing but wild speculation, unless you're Mrs Martin.

Given that sportsbikes aren't allowed it's going to be some freak of a super naked, overbored V-twin, a massive rear wheel and with electronics to rival MotoGP.

It's about time they relaxed the rules on what bikes can run - it's tarmac from bottom to top so let the sports bikes have a go. There needs to be something to increase interest, after Sebastien Loeb annihilated the car record last year, it's not going to be very exciting watching the Millens limping home miles behind the record pace.

Yes, I'm not sure how they justify the bike restrictions when the cars are pretty much unlimited

This is presumably Guy's Pikes Peak machine:

It would be great to see him attempt it. I wonder how it handles? It should cope with the altitude though.

It's got to be the Martek GSXR1100 turbo.

If sportsbikes aren't allowed, how did this have a go? Unfaired perhaps?

The turbo would certainly assist with the altitude.

Would John McGuinness or Hutchy be as keen to try things and make a good attempt or to provide as much " entertain & inform" value though? Extremely doubtful.

I'd like to see him attempt Pikes Peak in that bike.

There is much more to Guy than to many so called celebrities. Fair play to him.

You old misery guts. He's a likeable chap who has a good personality for TV and has done some good shows, why the hate? Cause he's not won enough? Do you think McGuinnes cares that's he's on TV a but more? I doubt it.

Fact is there are not enough TV shows to get the younger generation in science and engineering. If they have to use someone like Guy who has an engineering head as well as the motorbike back ground (do you see how many views tt videos get on YouTube ?) to make science and engineering shows more accessible and entertaining then it's only a good thing. Perhaps a kid will grow up thinking that engineering would be a brilliant career not becoming the next voice or something. If that happened to a few % of the generation then there wouldn't be a skills deficit would there !

But carry on hating if you prefer and we can carrying on letting youth idolise talentless celebs

He is the chap who inspired my nephew to start an apprenticeship in engineering after watching The series 'The boat that guy built' where previously his career ambitions extended to either being a games tester or famous innit.

Very good point and I do agree with you, but that doesn't prevent me finding his grating voice akin to fingernails being dragged down a blackboard. Maybe if the producers dubbed it over???

PS - it's not hate, just a dislike

voice is not everyone cup of tea and he may not be everyones favourite ( I much prefer McGuinness for road racing )! However I do think everyone should get behind him for these programs cause its clearly worth it (look at the chaps^^ Nephew). Good stuff!
