Just wondered what you lot are running. My manual says 36psi all round but I'm sure someone said in the past that's a bit low tbh I can't remember what was recommended.

My rear tyre has squared off now obviously it will do anyway as not every road is twist. I'm thinking maybe the pressure hasn't helped.

What are you guys running ?

I run the pressures for 'with pillion' on mine. Solo is 36 for both but that feels soggy & ste, up the rear to 42 & it's much happier.

Just try changing one a bit & see what effect it has.

36 and 36

Pumped my tyre up to 42 psi once and fell off. Must be that!

Can of worms this one, all depends on tyres, bike, riding style.

For example I had a pair of Pirelli Supercorsa SP's and ran them at 34/34 felt greatm I've just switched to standard supercorsa's for upcoming track days and a mate who runs in British superstock gave me the pressures he runs (hot) 34/23 checking with Pirelli the rear can run up to 28 psi.

R1 road pressures are 36/42 that's why...

Pirelli state... 2.5 bar front, 2.9 bar rear... guess what that is in psi?

LMAO ...

I've got BN's R1 settings kicking around somewhere you could try... but chances are it could use a refresh given the age of the bike.

I've done the rear shock but not the forks so that's being done before next track day.

I run mine at 36\36 same as Scott.
Thats a supercorsa front, with a bridgestone bt002 rear.
Yes im going to die just getting off the drive. biggrin

Its had a 10kg something spring in the shock, valved to match.
Changed the fork oil late last year with 5w oil.
The steering damper also has 5w fork oil in it.

This does seem to be a bit of a mine field (and very subjective I suspect).

I used to run 36/42 on my SV650. The 'book' figures and the rule of thumb pressures for all modern 600 bikes I believe.

Then I read somewhere in a bike mag that 36/36 was better (on 600RR being used for a tyre comparison test IIRC) and thought I'd give it a go. Backed it down gradually over a few rides and can't say I noticed a massive difference. Certainly didn't feel wrong so have stuck with it. I've noticed that this tyre has not squared off as badly as previously, but then I'm probably using more of it now.

What do people recommend for a ZX6R (05) on Pilot Power Pures out of interest? A Google search throws up multiple opinions as expected!!

Ermmmmmm, you might want to understand the difference between road and track pressures.

I run 36 front, 42 rear on the road, always have done, always will. On track it's 32 front and 24 rear both hot. World of difference there.

What ever you do just make sure you have the correct kind of air in them.

But track pressures beat about as much resemblance to road pressures as the pressures in your car do. Complete red herring and waste of time posting it, other than to mention your mate in SuperStock.

ahem, sometimes... roflthumbup

agree re track vs road pressures. Also your mate running XYZ psi (hot) at BSB superstock level, will be generating a lot more heat than you will on a t/day, so I'd go with the Pirelli website as a guide (25-28 psi hot).

A fair point well made hehe

I'm destroying tyres now in a day, need a review of my suspension me thinks.
