I dip in and out, and occasionally try to comment with decent data about the odd technical thing - especially if it involves racing.
But basically, I know my place, at the back, in the cheap seats
I always find your posts informative and interesting, id like to see more, but id like to see more of the real you. They come over as rather sterile if you will (I mean that in the nicest possible way), your rather polite and possibly too informative. It would be nice if your personality popped through on posts, I imagine with your background that there must be a character in there. But basically, I know my place, at the back, in the cheap seats
And yeah - TBH my personality is there in spades in my 'real life,' so to speak - in fact it's often something that I try to carefully surpress on occasions...for fear of scaring / compromising / antagonising folk, especially those whom I have just met. The real me, in full-flow, has often terrified and repelled people in the past...especially women, ahahaha! So, I do try and be a wee bit careful.
Especially my sense of humour, which is 'childish' at best, and satirically 'Pythonesque' when it's allowed free reign. Which has, with the hindsight of many social and vocational occasions past, been a wee bit challenging and overwhelming for a degree of what I might deem 'ordinary people.' Socially, there have often been occasions when girlfriends and close confidants have informed me later on, that maybe some of my banter may have been received as 'inappropriate...' But there you are, that's life....and I believe the phrase is 'fk them - they either like me or they don't, right?!'
My 'online' persona is, as you've observed, a far more restrained and conversational / informative style.
I've been in here for, what, nearly 10 years now? And in that time, I have learned at least one thing - that it is very easy to annoy, irritate and wind-up other posters if one is not careful. In my early days on PH, I have done so - which at first seemed to be fun / exciting....but after a while, I realised that it was a wee bit pointless at best, and a fast-track to being banned at worst.
Hence - I leave contrary and argumentative posting to others, who seem to do it very well. Me - well, I enjoy it on here, and would like to continue to be a member for many years to come. I've survived this long by winding my neck in, not being too reactionary and contrary to posts, not annoying and distressing others, and attempting to be a useful, interesting and informative contributor to the forums. Despite the fact that my 'inner child' often reads a post and screams at me to 'be a tt - be a tt - be a tt' and reply with something inflammatory. Lol!
Over the years so far, I have made many good friends from PH (both real and online) and have had (and given out) a good degree of advice and help. I appreciate the resource, am humbled and enjoy my somewhat 'Grandfather' status (although I am a mere youngster compared to some) and as said, will hopefully be here for a while yet.
That said, I may well log on one night, drunk, see something I don't agree with and post with wrath and furious anger, which might well get me banned for life. Who knows??!!

I'd totally forgot about that.
There was the time your mum found the underwear page from littlewoods catalogue folded up in your pocket.
That must have been embarrassing at 16

Most of my posts are in BB but nobody ever comments on them so I just lurk everyday all day waiting for a thread that I can comment on and maybe even get a reply
Well, at least it's a reply of sort!
Sons of Biker Banter, I am Moanthebairns...
And I see a whole keyboard army here in defiance of tyranny. You have come to post as free men, and free men you are. What would you do without freedom? Will you go onto visordown?
Post and you may get banned. Run and hide and you'll post..... at least a while. And dying bored at your desk at work many weeks from now, would you be willing to trade all the days from this day to that for one chance, just one chance to come back here and tell our moderators that they may take our usernames, but they'll never take our Moanthebairns!!!
