Looking at the mechanical details on this machine would indicate a riding to cleaning time ratio of about 1 to 500

I saw this at Goodwood...It's different...and that makes it quite cool. It's nice to see the brand live on and it'd certainly complement an Atom in the garage.
It's the sort of bike you'd take to shows and have lots of beards drooling and taking pictures...but that's about it.

I love this.

And the VFR1200 powertrain is a gem, but then again, I'm biased. cloud9

and these companies fail miserably with poor sales and folk wonder why?
look at the amateurish unsophisticated random hotchpotch of the design;
it is utter crap. schoolboy crap. it looks like it has been shunted at the front and stretched at the rear?
it has an inexplicably over engineered aluminium gash of a frame.... clearly mechanics egos at work.
a homer simpson special.

Actually, I agree. It's not the fantastic design it could have been. But could be worse.....

Yep, it could have looked like the Confederate Wraith - http://confederate.com/r135-wraith-combat/

I like the idea of custom built, and I'm considering placing an order. I rather like it. I would be a lot more interested in the opinions of anyone who has actually ridden it, I'd have to say.

It'd be a fairly short thread then.

You could by an exceptionally good bike for far less, and customise it to you own tastes. It would also have a frame designed for function, rather than simply to look like the flawed frame design of a sports car.

What makes you think it's flawed?

Triangulated trellis frames have been around for a very long while (not least with Ducati and Bimota) and whilst fabricated tube instead of machined, that's only for reasons of cost.

It's also not an out and out sports bike, it's designed to be good looking. Most people that buy a bike like this won't be interested in 10/10ths riding, so form is often more important than function.

And in that respect, surely even you can't argue that this frame is flawed?

I'd settle for informed comment, which is also in short supply ...

Of course not - comment can still be informed, can't it? There are some (few) who have ridden the prototype (there is at least one YouTube video), and there are people who can at least make informed comment based on the available information.

I'm a long way from Somerset, so I am interested in anything that actually adds to the discussion - not unreasonable, surely.

Of course not. But the chances of anyone on here havig ridden it are slim, and your comment smacked of 'if you've not ridden it, don't comment'.

Well, you read into it what you will - you obviously missed the bit where I said I would settle for informed comment (as opposed to the handful who have ridden it). Surely, you can conceive that there is a gulf between even marginally informed comment, and what we're getting above? New bike released, one page in and posters have already written it off.

No comment at all would be better than that. Don't let me get in the way, though. There's nothing like an argument looking for a topic.

The MCN initial test found it to be very good and I'm sure they don't comment on things without meaning it. Proof will of course be in the riding once demos are available.
