What QS's were being used? I was looking at using seamless... aka H&M
What is a seamless QS then? Compared to a switch.I thought they were all switches i.e. just turn off combustion and therefore load on gearbox and allow a gearchange during a preset or adjustable time. Either by turning off the spark or the fuel.
Seamless gearboxes are those used in MotoGP not something you can add onto a 10 year old bike for a few hundred quid.

Quick shifters like the Dyno Jet are a simple pull/push switch. Accordingly, whilst they cut the power well enough, they also reapply it like a switch. Which is not so nice. This is a good way to make a mess of a gearbox, especially Yamaha's who have their gear components cast and machined at the Willy Wonka Factory by the Ompa Loompas . Yamaha and st gearboxes are like Sooty and Sweep. Can't have one without the other
Other, lets call them "Intelligent" Quick Shifters have an ability to reapply the power in a ramped manner, by retarding the ignition so not subjecting the gearbox to a sudden power surge as the cylinders start firing again. This "ramp" is what seperates the good from the shyte but with Yamaha's, ut'll make no difference. Yer doomed!
Basically, Dyno Jet = Shyte. H&M = Super most excellent brilliant. (Except on Yamahas)

I think there's a bit of a mix up here.

That's my take on it as well ... I was looking at the Annitori (H&M) unit for the R1 ... I doubt I will bother now.Quick shifters like the Dyno Jet are a simple pull/push switch. Why not?? I don't get all this negativity towards QS's on non track bikes?? Even BMW fit them to the big K1300S and peeps here say how much they love it. (gits!)
I have QS's on all my track bikes and one of my road bikes (it came with one) and love them. Even on the KTM adventure i rarely use the clutch once moving,as it has no QS (one is available as an option) i don't see what the fuss is about??

Yeah, but you can always flog it to some poor unsuspecting Yamypoobox fan boi and try again with a decent bike
Well an RSV4 won't make the list will it if I want a decent bike... must try the fish, I hear it's good!
have you ever ridden with a QS though?? if not, you could take an RSV4 for a test ride and kill 2 birds with 1 stone.
See if you like the QS and make an Aprilia Dealer think he might be in with a sale!!

I have a 2008/58 R1 blue done about 8,000 miles in my garage, I don't really use it now as I commute to work on the train.
Haven't got round to advertising yet, if you are interested in more details let me know and I will send pics etc over.
I have had it since new.

I am after a new bike to love and cherish on track, an 08 would be ideal as a lot of parts like wheels swap straight over.
