Second only to the other clitoris bike......675 Triumph
Have you ridden one?FYI I've ridden a few actually.
Along with pretty much everything else of interest including many classic/vintage bikes too.
Perks of my previous job and contacts/friends made since.

I've ridden the 675 in Street Triple form but not the Daytona yet ... the Street Triple did nothing for me at all TBH.FYI I've ridden a few actually.

Ive just purchased a 5vy, my previous road bikes are a 5eb R6 and k1 750 gsxr.
I really am enjoying the R1, lots more comfortable to ride compared to the gsxr. It has a slightly more upright riding position and lower pegs.
It can do everything I need from it. I need to tick off a euro tour on it at some point.

They do sound awesome.
Its all clobblers. I have a 2000 R1 and a 2010 1000RR. They ride a little differently, the R1 is smoother due to the carbs probably, but shakes its head on accelerating out of corners. The 1000R is solid over bumps, never shakes its head and has a little more top end.
But to be honset there isn't anywhere near the difference between them to justify the price gap. Both are rocket fast, and both will go round corners better than their rider.

It's worth saying as well that I have seen two or three R1 courier bikes around London, looking rather incongruous amongst the standard Cb500 and NC700s! I did ask one of the riders at the lights about the unusual choice but couldn't hear his answer over the noise of the bike so had to politely laugh . But if they are practical enough for couriers whilst being perfect for TDs, they must be doing something right...

In my experience Loon doesnt understand budgets
I don't, but often paying that bit more for what you really want is cheaper in the medium to long run. y2blade said:

I bought an early 2010 one and had non problems at all and I run a 59 plate one on track for TDs and Ebduramce and it hasn't blown up yet. The engine is smooth as hell. https://www.google.co.uk/?gws_rd=ssl#q=bmw+s1000rr...

Why would you look to buy a 2nd sportsbike of a lower grade than the one you have ?
He wants to for everyday - in addition to the Ducati I presume?1098 is more than capable as a daily ... not sure when he'd ever voluntarily take the R1 over the 1098, I know I wouldn't ....

Really? Which is more comfortable, economical and reliable?
I doubt it's the Italian bike
I still want one mind you
I used my 996 as a daily .... no more difficult to ride than an R1 ..... and its on north of 50k miles I doubt it's the Italian bike
I still want one mind you
It'll be reliable enough and as for economical, it wont be 3-4k less economical to warrant buying and running a 2nd inferior sportsbike ..

Lol keep using the word inferior, someone might bite
I know what you mean, the depreciation of putting miles and wear on the 1098 isn't going to save enough money to offset buying another mid naughties superbike

Well ones the Focus ST of bikes and the other is the Ferrari 458 .....
