yes Obviously I was wearing WWII fighter pilot goggles at the time and yes, they filled up with blood just like they do in the movies.
How cool is that??

I'm glad you're OK and that there wasn't any serious damage. As you say though, "there's always one", but there's not many more! And yet at the start of the thread you'd have thought that almost everyone in an open face helmet was destined to need total facial reconstruction surgery.

Well I was *dead* at the time, but I'm feeling much better now biggrin

This was taken about three hours before it happened, 1984 would you believe it...

my response to people who were born in the 90's:

"you're not even old enough to hold your bloody head up"

or

"are you allowed to cross the street on your own?"

When we used to get fresh faced apprentices in, "does your mum know you're here?"

When I think about it, my bike clothing in 1984 was leather jacket, jeans, boots with sea boot socks folded over but a full face helmet. I did get my first 2 piece leather suit late that year (but I kept the boots and sea boot socks!)

biggrin

What it doesn't show is how much of the 19.4% was in the area (at the back) where an open face would have shell and how much is actual chin bar.

What the hell, it's been a while since they did the rounds on BB biggrin

In my defence, Miami Vice was all the rage when this was taken...

My first 2 piece was from Hideout (then in Cambridge but still going now) and were made of goat skin. They looked like a current zip all around 2 piece touring leather suit but had little in the way of armour other than extra layers of leather on elbows hips and knees.
