The insurance comparison sites have a huge list of security devices they accept. Anyone know which is the best for insurance discount? I don't have a ground anchor.

I don't know about insurance, but my advice for disk locks would be to NEVER get one without an alarm.

One day, it'll save you a lot more than the insurance discount hehe

Highly unlikely that you'll get a discount. Security is a way for you to protect your excess and NCD by making your bike harder to nick. Insurers know it doesn't make much of a difference overall though.

A little came off my premium for having a security device. It made no difference what I had though. Premium was the same for a XENA disk lock as it was for an Almax chain & Squire lock.

OP assuming you get any discount at all, if you declare it you must use it every time you park the bike - thats what the small print said when I attempted to register some physical security. For the tiny discount over the hassle of carrying the 27kg lock and almax chain everywhere I don't declare it. The most discount for security was received for having a key based factory immobiliser.

Discount is approximately £30 but as pointed out I would have to use it all the time, so probably not worth it.

A copper once told me it was extremely common for thieves to take the chains and locks with them.

I would wager it is more common for those policies that demand constant use.
