Re 2 cylinders vs 4., I find Triumph have the right compromise with a triple. Tons of torque, wonderful sound, smooth delivery and still decent rpm limits. Worth trying one.
Triumph Triples are superb.

The Harris bandwagon has well and truly rolled into town.

Nice choice of bike Chris, stay safe fella.
Thread made its way from the General Gassing. Hence (probably) more views/replies/exposure. wink
Although it's on the front page too.

Chris, if you're reading this - you mentioned the noise at higher speeds. You might like to consider using ear plugs on a regular basis in order to protect your hearing, and (at least from what I have experienced) a more comfortable, less stressful ride.

Don't worry about riding slow, it's up to you. I live in London and I don't filter at every conceivable opportunity, despite the majority of two-wheel mounted folks seeing it as the only way to be.

Earplugs - definitely a good tip. It only takes 5 mins at motorway speeds without plugs and you can permanently damage your hearing.

Oh, and surely riding is one long overtake?! Why would you ever want to sit behind some cage sucking up their exhaust fumes?

Being able to ride and manoeuvre comfortably at low speed puts a rider in a small minority.

It's worth doing a few tight circles, u turns and figure of eights every now and again.

Ear plugs are a must

I don't feel the need to increase risk to myself at every chance in order to arrive at work 2 minutes earlier.

I'd rather have those two minutes plodding along until a more comfortable opportunity presents itself smile

I do like to gas it up through the tunnel that is about 18 miles into my commute though, rooooaaarrrr

I don't want to sound like a nay sayer, but this isn't the best example to make to new motorcyclists... I've noticed that a lot of 'car people' seem to believe that their skills behind the wheel will simply transfer to two wheels. It doesn't (generally) work like that.
100% agree!

I look forward to the massive influx in CBT takers in BB, and then nothing more once they realise they can't ride a bike.

See the stories about accidents outside of people's control. Meh, your skin to do what you wish with.

Wouldn't get me on a bike without leathers
Most accidents are hardly "outside of people's control" though, and are due to rider error.

If one rides very slowly and carefully, with proper observation then its very possible to be safer wearing a t-shirt imho than someone in power ranger gear riding like a mentalist.

Chris - welcome to our world. While I'm a proponent of the starting small and going up slowly through the displacement ranks brigade, I understand that most bikers ride mostly for pleasure, and its important to have something you actually feel like going for a ride on.

My £0.02 is to do some further training, perhaps some on-road training with Rapid Training, and also CSS, which will greatly enhance your ability to enjoy your bike

Nah, their wife/Mum won't let them. They'd all be "too mad" to ride a bike anyway, wouldn't they?

I agree with Jock Marquez^^^^^^ The "Gladius" is the worst name ever for a motorbike.

Oh we will all be so grateful to have such a deity as you honor us with your presence.

And who are you speaking on behalf of when you say 'we're' ? Are you the official spokesperson or self appointed believing you are the mouthpiece of the masses?

I think you're addressing the Chief Poobah Brown Nose of the "We Love (it up the) Harris" fan club. Careful, or you'll have the "Fluffer Hoardes" rampaging to your door lest you besmirch their erstwhile leader.
