I often ride the Zym Chinese Scooter to work, to be fair its a hoot! My favorite past time is nodding and saying hello to "big" bike riders at lights and nodding at them as I pass on the opposite side. It really seems to wind them up with looks of contempt aimed at me smile. Me personally I nod at everyone, the youth on a 50cc scooter may well be part of the brother/sisterhood someday.

No to work, I couldn't be bothered getting the 1199 Panigale out of the garage, and even when I do I still nod at scooter riders.

Brilliant!!

Careful mind, you're at risk of raising the summertime nodding at bikers thread.

wouldn't bother me - i ride an Aprilia Mille and nod at all bikers - that includes mopeds. I have found though, that Harley riders never nod back biggrin

but one Sunday i went out on my pushbike (the day after a long ride on the Mille) and nodded at the first biker I passed. I got a strange look then redface

I nod at mopeds. Why wouldn't you? I nod to everyone.
Except the grumpy bloke on a Kawasaki Versys I see most mornings who never nods back. If I see him, I always ensure I do a proper big wave instead smile

I've always found you usually get some kind of response if you stand up on the pegs and execute a parade ground standard salute at these sorts of people

Side nod = past test after 2005
Forward nod = past test before 2004

I've done that on a 50 mile charity cycle ride recently, nodded at all the bikes going past and got mostly bemused looks.

Did get a couple back though biggrin

I saw someone in a convertible the other day with the roof up. Gah.
On the same journey I also saw a biker in a t-shirt.
Not only was he/she in a t-shirt he/she also had a pint of milk.
A PINT OF MILK!

When out an about I find that when nodding at Scooters in London, you are basically ignored.

I nodded at a few 125 bike riders on CBR or YZF and usually get nothing back.

Nodding at Harley riders is pointless.

I have noticed nodding at GS riders is going the same way.

My new policy is only nod at riders on the weekend as I believe the London commute nullifies the nodding rule.

Got saluted at by a woman on a pink chinese scooter once, I felt violated.

Generally nod to everyone, fk 'em if I don't get one back.

I just can't be arsed nodding back a lot of the time. I'll nod in winter to the few other commuters because we are all miserable and wet and it's rare to see another bike.
But in the summer, you see another bike every 30 seconds, and I just can't be bothered.

Maybe, never thought of that. I am not sure why they would be laughing.

Why is there an obsession with bloody nodding? I don't and can't be arsed, I don't nod at vivaro van drivers, or golf drivers so why should I nod at some muppet on a bike just because they are on a bike confused
