thats confirmed as 230 at the crank, so 207 at wheel, not THAT much of a step forward in engine terms but the electronics package sounds immense...
So that's actually more powerful than the unverified claim of 220 @ Crank, in road going version of the supercharged H2 then. Not really going to do much to silence the criticisms that Kawasaki have wasted their time.
doesnt look like the H2 will be a slouch tbh

Hasn't the FJR been running it for a while?
FJR has an automatic gearbox which isn't DCT, completely different. Only Honda has DCT technology on a road bike right now (for the last 4 years)Has anybody on here tried one (the auto-clutch FJR, not the standard FJR)? What's it like at low speed?
Once moving it's dead easy just requiring a movement on the gear lever to change up or down. Even downshifts didn't feel like "hitting a brick wall" when carried out at reasonably high revs.
It worked well enough but there's no way I'd want a bike witted with such a system.

You can bet your house that the H2 will come with an optional 'kit' to boost the figures, just like the Desmosedici road bike did...
Yeah that needed it though as it only had 160 bhp ish in standard formylovebuffalo said:

I want Yamaha to completely cock it up so I can justify buying an 08> Blade or 11> ZX10 for my track stuff when I get back rather than have to fork out for a £15k MotoGP-esque R1.

Yeah that needed it though as it only had 160 bhp ish in standard formAnd like for like on the track, although they have superb corner exit power being a big bang motor, they get run into the weeds when against a ZX or S1k so the 200 ponies claim looks a bit off. Truth is 170 to 175 i reckon

But won't be betting my house on it all the same.

A slick can absorb a lot of power even of 17", best power readings are on a harder road tyre. The D16 standard soft 16" back tyre with big sidewall will also absorb a lot I'm guessing.

As for tyres, there's a subject unto itself!! I use a set tyre on an old rear wheel i have in the shed for all dyno work so it's always a consistent tyre and pressure so as to get a consistent reading. Even different tyres brands will queer the pitch due to carcass weight etc, upto around 5 bhp so it's not always apples vs apples

I tried the FJR-A a couple of years back. It's an auto clutch with a manual gearbox. It was really weird to ride. At low speed, the bike was fine although I was not comfortable not having a clutch to feather, especially on a big bike with lots of low down torque. I was told you get used to it but I wasn't sure I'd want to ride it on a poor surface requiring lots of slow speed manoeuvring.

Mmmm, interesting feedback thanks. I'm thinking of an auto-clutch FJR basically to save overexerting my left hand working the clutch (remember, creampuff by name, creampuff by nature ) I find the clutch on heavy touring bikes just gets a bit heavy when used a lot, like when filtering. OTOH although I want to give my left hand a rest, I also value slow speed control, esp when filtering or turning over uneven or dodgy surfaces.
So you think I would like the auto-clutch or not? FJRs with an auto-clutch are pretty hard to find for a test ride.
I'm waiting for confirmed info on the new R1, I'm probably going to buy a new model next year, it's going to be between the R1 and S1000RR, I don't think Honda has anything coming out?, I wouldn't go for the 1299 Panigale as I had another ride on an 1199 recently and didn't get on with it.
The 230 bhp is still unconfirmed and it wouldn't bother me, as long as it has similar power to the S1000RR or ZX10R, which would still be a significant hike over the current Sheldon edition.
The DCT option sounds great, and I'm glad they're losing those horrible exhausts.

New info. DCT seems to be confirmed but no crossplane crank. That would be a shame.
