Hey all,
I'm in the market for a new helmet. I suffer from tinnitus and it is currently far more noticable after a long ride, especially motorway miles (wind noise).
After doing some research the current Schuberth SR1 seems to come pretty highly rated for low noise. Does anyone have any other recommendations?
Obviously, I'd need to see if it fits before I buy...

Hi Salgar,
I have the Schuberth S2, which i find quiet around town. I've noticed that it really performs well when out on the fast roads, if you pop the chin curtain in. This prevents the wind buffer and you can ride without too much wind noise.
Although as mentioned above, ear plugs are the best.
For comparison, my previous helmet was a Duchinni d701, which felt like wearing a cardboard box for a helmet.

Sorry, I forgot to mention I use earplug always anyway! I can't ride without them.
I was reading about the S2 but some said there was quite a bit of buffeting from underneath: http://www.webbikeworld.com/r2/motorcycle-helmet/s...
Maybe they weren't using the chin curtain though.

Same lid and experiences here, but I still wear plus or noise isolating earbuds too.I have the Schuberth S2, which i find quiet around town. I also rated AGV pretty highly for keeping the noise out, not worn one for a while though.

Shoei Qwest. Very quiet especially with chin curtain thing. Earplugs optional.
Optional? You can be assured that your Shoei Quest is still registering a volume without earplugs that damages hearing at prolonged motorway speed.
Earplugs are the way forward, and wear any helmet of your choice.
I did less than 10 miles on Sunday in my Qwest without ear plugs, as I was just popping to the shops and thought I'd give it a try, couldn't believe how much noisier it was, that's with chin bit, whisper strip and ear pad things.
Ear plugs all the time for me, I don't think there is such a thing as a quiet (full face) helmet unfortunately, I'd love to be in blissful silence slogging over the M62.
Cheers,
Rob

Earplugs all the way. Even on a 125 the wind noise at anything over 50mph in my Arai is awful. Would only ever ride without them if I'm going 30mph max and just down the road.
OP - if earplugs alone aren't quiet enough, maybe you're not putting them in right or are using ste earplugs? I use moldex spark plugs, they're awesome. Roll, lick, pull and insert
