Impressed to hear about this outfit in the Royston area

http://www.openroadrentals.co.uk/

My mate hired an S1000R for £100 for the day, if you bin it £1500.

What a machine, the quickshifter was awesome...Bike on xmas list

They also hire for week/weekends etc, my mate is hiring the S1000r for 1 week to take to France, all inclusive of full European cover, paniers and sat Nav for £530, IMO pretty good value and they seem to very busy and very helpful.

The are also looking at branching out and moving to Cambridge to set up a Ducati dealership, it's about time we had some local bike shops!

Yeah, Open Road are a good reliable and VFM outfit, ive hired from them in the past. Good service

If you want to try a few new bikes every year for long weekends and do a few hundred miles on them, then Spyderclub membership works out best for me. £100 a month ish for 20 days a year hire, plus a range of other benefits.

A 20 mins freebie test ride from a dealer is ok, but I prefer to do a few hundred miles before making my mind up ...without the pressure of a sale. I also like to put myself out my misery, dreaming that I would be comfortable on the latest exotic sportsbike ....then 3 crippling days later Im ready to give the Panigale back LOL wink

Yeah, i think there is a bit of leeway there, also as he is hiring for a week later in the year he may have got a discount.

Mate of mine hired an RC8R off this lot in Ongar

www.superbikerental.co.uk

for our recent road trip to the South of France. Most good to deal with by all accounts.

Again longer periods of hire are open to negociation it seems.
