Hi Guys, first post from me!

So I'm looking to get my first big bike, been riding a YBR125 for a while and now passed my full test.

I've found a 55reg CBR600RR for sale from a dealership for a good price. BUT the bike only has the first service at 700miles, it has now done almost 8000.
The dealer said they would do a service before it left the showroom if I bought it.

Would buying a bike with such little history be a bad idea? I'm guessing it will affect my chances of re-selling it and reduce the re-sale price.
Any thoughts?

Thanks!

If it's a good price then it shouldn't matter. Make sure they do a proper service including the valve clearances and don't just change the oil. 8000 is a very low mileage on that age of bike. It would be worth verifying the mileage as much as having the service history.

I'd try to speak to the previous owner to find out a little more about it, his details should be on the v5, I did this recently on an old guzzi I bought and managed to exchange e mails with the previous owner who had moved to Mexico but was able to provide the last 16 years history

When I was with the dealer earlier I didn't see any old MOT certificates so cannot confirm the milage unfortunately.
The dealers are selling it on behalf of someone and they've said he hasnt used it in the past year, its been sat in his garage, so this could account for some milage.

Love the bike though, it looks amazing!

ou’ll need the vehicle registration mark and either:

the MOT test number (you can get this from the VT20 test certificate or the VT30 refusal certificate)
the document reference number from the V5C registration certificate (logbook) if you don’t have the MOT test number
