I work for one of the companies who is working on the scheme and can advise the funding is in place for the first Phase which I understand to be the track, pits and stand facilities. Mind you there is a large amount of mountain to quarry to build it, hence the initial delay of 1 year before the GP moves there(Dont forget that deal is already done).
They would tell the contractors that.

Whilst I think they are going to have huge challenges and I hope they have every success as I think the area truly needs something to happen (not sure what)I think the transport infrastructure is a bit of a null point as Silverstones is truely awful. Yet people still go back.
Really? Two major motorways 10 to 15 miles away and dual carriageway all the way from them?

Travel through that section between m40 and m1 regularly and never any problem. F1 week works well enough with the one way system, and every other event, you hardly notice they are on.

That duel carriageway was put in such a rush it's a crap job, the pot holes are big enough to swallow cars! M4 isn't that far away and as has been mentioned plenty of work going on at the heads of the valley. There's 2 dual carriageways that feed it. Whilst I can't imagine it being traffic free but I can't see it being any worse.

I can't see it being built at all. Seems nothing more than a political tool / fanciful idea. Wonder how much has already been wasted on it?
Totally agree. My post below is from the 13th August last year

Not a chance that this will happen. None at all. I doubt the land will ever even get the first piece of turf turned over.

It'll never go ahead Loon. I don't know why you seem so convinced it will.

If the news story is to be taken at face value and believed (i.e. there's no back story to this) then it's just going through the normal processes as far as I can see.

Big IF though.

The Heads of the Valleys road is having huge amounts of money spent on it.

One thing that may scupper it besides finances, if you go to google streetview and look around from the lanes above HotV where the circuit is to go the place is in thick fog and that was in August, interesting for close racingscratchchin!

Hate to scupper the neigh sayers, but I am actually working on the project, surveys have been undertaken and its in in for planning review, the developer is serious about it.

Look at Celtic Manor for what the right venue can achieve away from the South East(I know its closer to the M4) but with the road improvements it shoudln't be any worse than Silverstone).

As far as links go from North and Midlands M5, M50 then dual carriageway. From the South West M5, M4 then dual carriage way and from London M4 (What a shame thoes Londoner's will have to come out side the South East).

Camp sites are part of the plans as are hotels.

And the first turf has been turned (admitedly as part of the environmental requirements as opposed to the build).

Also in respect of weather I seem to remember Silverstone nopt being immune to rain issues.

Even the weather issue appears to be in Silverstone's favour.
That's hardly surprising as Circuit of Wales is at 400m above sea level, which is a pretty significant height. Silverstone is at 140m, and Shap Summit on the M6 is a mere 320m, by comparison.

I really hope it all comes together and succeeds. The cynic in me says it won't though. I'll be happy to be proved wrong.....

Even If it does go ahead which it will be a bigger flopper than Rockingham. TBH Rockingham is a pretty decent set up or seemed it when I went years ago.

We don't need another circuit and certainly not one in Wales.

Rockingham is ste. Even with the infield, which is pretty well unsighted most of the time amd involves turning left about 30 times then high siding at the first right hander.

Yeah as a track is chod unless you like going in circles. I meant the pits, stands and parking etc are pretty good.

Certainly no need for another track anyway. Would be far better off to invest and develop what we already have.

It's OK but nothing special, the parking is Ok because there's no major events there.

Bikes us the infield, but it's weird how the track sits below ground level, so is really hard to see where it goes and pick up braking markers and the like. It is truly ste.
