Not sure if it's been mentioned yet but big shout for Leon Camier getting a point in 15th.

I enjoyed the race. The first half was pretty lively, then the second settled down, but the gap at the front was small enough to give that feeling that something still might happen.

As much as I respect MM and what he has done, it is great to see him finally beaten hehe

Marc has confirmed there wasn't any particular problem, he just wasn't up to it and didn't have the bike sorted.

10/10 Dani !

The spectacle which I was referring to, is not necessarily today. I mean this year next year and the next 10 years to come. Watch him become one of the sports greatest riders. It's not that often that it happens, that is the spectacle I was referring to.

Fair enough, he lost today. I'll hold my hands up. But he'll be straight back at it and he'll probably get the win back at Silverstone.

F1 next weekend anyway!

How long did that take you to write?

I am a MM93 fan. The rider that is. Not you. Actually. Are you him and you've just finished the press stuff?

He is already one of the best. GOAT? Quite possibly.

But then I said the same about a rising number 58. frown

Certainly possible. If he keeps up his current win form, or even halves it, he'll still have the most motogp wins in history.

Yes ok then, if you say so. I'm sure I interpreted your statement slightly differently!

I don't think there is any doubt he'll be one of, if not the, greatest of all time. Just nice for the sport that is he beatable IMO.

You're right and wrong there. Prior to MM there was Rossi with a small 3 year gap to Marquez. Prior to Rossi there was a small 2 year gap back to the Doohan era.

Bullst about the GOAT stuff. Same as Rossi, could Marquez handle racing knowing there was a 20% chance he'd be dead by the end of the season?

If you're claiming the greatest of all time, when folk like Hailwood, Surtees, Duke etc were racing the psychological battle was the hardest to overcome. Statistically it was more dangerous to race GP motorbikes than to be a soldier on the front in WW1 at one point.

Pisses me off when people claim someone to be the greatest of all time without actually knowing anything about the history of the sport, which 'all time' hints you do.

Playing devils advocate how do you know that with the weight of fear of death removed the old guys would have been able to go any quicker? Maybe they relied on bravery more than out right skill compared to the current generation?

Bottom line is that you are could both be either right or wrong and none of us will ever know.

Again, balls to devils advocate. You really reckon that Surtees relied on bravery over skill? Having seen him on track as a 65 year old against riders a third his age, he has some talent.

Point is none of us know. Possibly Rossi or Marquez are the greatest of all time, but we'll never know whether Harold Daniels, Stanley Woods, Mike Hailwood, Geoff Duke could have shown them a clean pair of heels. Equally Rossi really struggled after Simoncelli's death, would he have coped if there was two or three riders dying a meeting? We'll never know, maybe he would.

But, that's my point. Why current 'fans' reckon they need to decide someone is the greatest of all time is frankly bks unless you actually know who all the riders of all time are, surely?!

How many that claim someone to be the GOAT could even name all the World Champions? If they can't, how can they make that claim?

All of the GOAT type comparisons are like comparing apples and oranges. Would Ago still have won on an RCV212V? Who knows.
