Aye, no licence needed and all equipment is supplied, and there's no charge if you put it down the road, it will just end your sessions early, unless it's a very minor off and the bike gets the all clear from the mechanics, then they will let you back out so long as you weren't been a dick in the first place...

I took a mate earlier in the year, he can ride, but just a few field bikes and does mostly trials. I'd say at least 50% of the people are pretty new to bikes but because the way the instructors work together they do a great job of mixing skill levels whilst on track... It helps to be with someone with equal ability in your group of 2, but if there's a big difference and one person is getting slowed up, they'll swap you around or get 1 to 1 instruction going...

Come along and give it ago and grab a bargain off me... make me an off fella and come along tomorrow!
I would love to come along as my day off in the week is actually tomorrow too! However the pennies are not great this month frown. I would also prefer to take a mate/family member with me as i don't fancy going all the way to Donny without anyone who can drive back (as I live just outside of York) frown.

Did this a few years ago and had a great time!
My instructor was a very nice Aussie chap who's name rang a bell at the time but I can't remember it now.
Me and a mate I've been riding with for years were paired up with him and despite being told that the first session would be a 'warmer' we were on it from the start. The instructor said we seemed 'keen'. smile
It was all going swimmingly until we had a little light rain towards the end of the third session and I managed to bin it at Goddards. As luck would have it, the pro photographer was there at the time and got some very nice shots of me crashing. Only light damage though and, thankfully, Ron took it very well.
Brilliant day out and highly recommended.

Well pleased with that! Cheers mate!

Hoping this will be the start of a new hobby. Or at the very least will make me safer on the 'blade!

I'll be the slightly wide lad in the race school's leathers.

First time on track on 2 wheels.

I know donny really well from racing on 4 wheels, but i'm guessing the lines are totally different. Hopefully it'll be one less thing to think about though!

I like the look of this. Price seems ok, given that if you bin it it won't cost you anything. Anything involving a track seems to have a high bin-rate.

I did this last year, was brilliant fun. Not so much a "school" as there wasn't really any instruction, it was more just a case of following an instructor who went bloody fast! It increased my confidence 100x as I managed to ride faster and corner harder than I ever thought possible.

I recently did levels 1 and 2 of the California Superbike school which was much better instruction but nowhere near as thrilling as the Ron Haslam school.

Well. That was fun!

Really enjoyed it. First session it was clear i wasn't hanging off enough.

Second session tried harder. Knee down for the first time!

Loved it....right up until low-siding it. Bike wasn't fixable for the last session so game over. Slightly winded, ripped (their) leathers, bit disappointed in myself because it felt great!

I can highly recommend it.

knee downs whilst crashing don't count unless you save it laugh

bit of a shame almost 300 quid for 30 minutes, but look it at this way.

you don't need to fix the bike or buy new leathers

When i told one of the instructors i was still pleased at having got my knee down he said "and then your hip...elbow...shoulder". I had to laugh.

Got some good advice. Some nice pics. Met some good chaps. Still had fun too.

I can see me getting a cbr600rr next spring. Chinese fairings. Little trailer for it. Some cheap leathers.

Just need to...erm...gain skill.

In 10 yrs of car racing and trackdays i've binned it twice. 25 mins of track time on a bike and i was off!

That's what I mean by anything to do with a track having a high bin-rate......

£300-odd is quite good value for money for 1/2 hour on a track, busted up bike and knackered leathers wink

How did you manage to bin it? Do you know what mistake you made? (important otherwise you might do it again)

Had a great time thier too. Would definately recommend it for someone who has never been out on track on two wheels before. My only gripe was the instructors frequently pulling you over to the left to let the blades through just as you were setting yourself up for a corner....very frustrating when you only get a finite amount of laps in the day.

One thing that made me laugh was my mate told me he had done a 1.42 on his GSXR-1000 there, when i told the instructor he said 'Ron does 1.42's two up on the blade' lol

when I went a couple of the instructors mentioned that Rons personal best time was on a CBR600, rather than a blade.
