About 11 years ago when I was 13, was a little Beta 50 twist n go field bike. As for road riding I went straight to 125 (CBT) 650 (DAS).

March 1978. I left my Suzuki AP50 outside a motorcycle dealer on Deansgate and rode off on a Honda CB500T. The AP50 had felt like the fastest thing ever when I first rode it.
Given how "good" the Honda CB500T was, the AP50 was probably faster! smile

(I had a CB500T too. It was awful! )

Managed to save enough for a particularly shoddy SS50 back in 1980.
Absolute piece of junk, even by the woeful standard of SS50s. Rode it once and slung it in the back garden never to be ridden again.
Waited till I was 17 and bought an RS100. Haven't approached a 50 since.

My first bike was a DT80 when I was 16 in approx 1984. My parents wouldn't let me ride a 50 on the road as they felt it was too dangerous. Naught I know but I'm still alive today !!

About 32 years ago, when I was small enough for a kids bike.

1981. To help some mates drink underage we hatched a plot that I'd borrow a 16-year-old's RD50, go into the offie leaving my lid on and speak in my gruffest voice.

8 tins of Harp lager later and I was a hero biggrin
The lad who owned the bike was actually bigger than me but didn't have the nerve to go into the shop rolleyes
Getting the tinnies into my coat was the biggest challenge...

When I was working at training school I used to service the bikes and the annual trip to the MOT station on our Yamaha Neo 50 scooter was without a doubt the scariest journey I ever had to make.

Eventually to ease the terror I bought a cheap de-restricted exhaust just to bolt on for the journey, alas that was no good for the pupils and the 16 year olds still had be taught at tortoise pace.

1983 I think..

I had this MTX50(my brother ,aged 9, pictured riding it at the time..), I have nothing but fond memories of it, it was slow of course but it was my first set of wheels, got me out of town and into the big wide world of work and night life, a load of us spent every minute we could riding around on our sports peds, 75% of it off road, every day was an adventure on them and the social scene was brilliant..

A road going sports ped couldnt have been half as much fun I would have thought but where we lived at that time, it was great and certainly a step up from a BMX..cemented my love of bikes thats for sure.

16 years since I owned my FS1E! I remember looking at speedo climbing towards 40mph with a massive grin on my face - I was controlling this machine and travelling with the flow of traffic which felt incredible. I spent hundreds making it quicker and broke the 60mph barrier after wasting my savings and instantly regretted it when riding my mates GP125.

After that about 3 years later my younger brother bought a new Peugeot Speedfight which he binned one morning. I went down to recover it for him and found it terrifying! The handling was abismal, and there was just a panicky lack of power. It's amazing how your perception of speed changes over the years, I have no idea what I would think of one now 13 years later!

1996, I was cruising the street on this beaut cool

Still got this one in the shed:

She's a 50cc four stroke. May look quicker, but I suspect she'll be slower than the cruiser Fizzy hehe

And my first bike was a 50 biggrin
